tC for Evo?
I'm seriously thinking about trading in my tC for like a 03 Evo. Ive always wanted the Evo but the price just seemed way to high for me. And now all this talk about the tCs engines maybe having some issues I'm kinda getting worried. I too have a Weapon R Intake and if something happens to my car
like Stugotti I don't want the intake to be blamed. Do you guys thing the Evo is a reliable car? I was also planning on boosting the tC, but getting the Evo would put me with boost
. I need some opinions because i would want the car to last me at least 5 years.
Thanks

My car to buy was a 2005 EVO VIII. But i couldnt wait for them to find one. So I ended up with a tC.
Personally I wouldnt buy a used Evo. Look at the demographics of those that drive them. The people that want them are young and want to race. The ones who want to race AND can afford it are USUALLY spoiled kids who get it for free.
USUALLY someone who gets a free 35,000 car doesnt care about taking care of something. So my guess is a used EVO is going to be a beater.
This is all generalizations but its usually true.
Just my thoughts

Seriously. I think there are 5-8 documented cases of engine failure and we all know each one of them was hard on their engine. I mean they made modifications. I don't think anything is wrong with the tC engine. The evo is an awesome car but buying it used is a risk.
Do itttttttt....lol Evo's are the perfect car in my eyes. I'm not too sure about the reliability part since i've never owned one, but i do know that they sometimes have tranny problems (Also a DSM problem). One things fersure, that 4G63T is amazing and wont disappoint you. Also, the EVO IX has MIVEC now (not sure if all models have it).

Here is the proof positive of the amazing power potential of the new IX turbo...
This customer ONLY has the following mods:
HKS RS INTAKE
3" HKS Exhuast CAT BACK ONLY
STOCK CAT
Forge MBC
Dyno Flash Custom tune
100 octane fuel and 24.5 psi
Guys - this result simply blows me away - we are all sitting here in a state of shock. The guy needs a fuel pump at this point which we are putting in now. With a full 3" exhuast - these IX's will reach 400 whp without cams - they are no joke

Do it dude, you will not be disappointed, treat your car good and it will last.
seriosly dont get a used evo if you get one..because most of evo owners buy the car to go fast in...that means they raged the shiet outta them.......personally if you want boost....buy a turbo for the tC it would be alot cheaper than a used evo anyways.....
I would never support Mitsubishi in anyway. After that ____ that they pulled sending representatives to the track to write down the license plate numbers
of people legally street racing. All because they wanted to void their warranties for aggressive driving conditions. Keep your tC. F Mitsubishi

yeah, get the EVO............
the thing to be carefull about is going in for warranty service. they are real picky and if they think your street racing, or auto crossing they sometimes deny services.........i read that somewhere.

My friend may be tryin to sell his EVO VIII (put down 330whp) soon. Minor mods: exhaust, boost contoller, flashed ecu, few other goodies.
This is around Philadelphia.
check out www.fuzionauto.com to see the car

I'd toss my tC in a second if I could get an EVO lol . I'll be starting a new job and finally making real money soon so who knows. Maybe by the end of this year I will have sold the tC and bought something else
.
Have you guys seen the Evo X? I have not searched much, but I think (THINK) I saw a pic and man oh man was it ugly. Anyone got a pic? The one I saw looked like a civic coupe raped a 06 eclipse and she had a bastard child called the evo x. Maybe I just need to see more pics and it'll grow on me.

this really depends on your financial situation.
a used EVO will cost much more to maintain than a tC.
Plus, if you plan on modding, you are going to lose your warranty with mitsubishi, and with their reputation of quality cars, a warranty is something i would need with them.
If you get an EVO, you really should get it new. The 03's do not include MIVEC, and were probably driven into the ground, and not broken in probably. As rock solid as the engine may be, if it wasnt broken in properly, then its garbage.

I agree, depends on your financial situation. Car is a car, sure you can drive faster or looks 'cool', but it is still a car.
I also agree, get a new one if you can afford, stock EVO is not equal to stock Civic. The previous owner may beat up the car before they want to sell it. Even 1K miles are too much on a used EVO.
If you can't afford a new EVO, DON'T do it
