It's weird how vehimently people are denying this... as if all car fires had very predictable reasons for them starting.

Its deffinetly a fluke.

If it wasnt a fluke, everyones cars would be catching on fire. This is 1 in 300,000 cars catching on fire. Thats a fluke.

So with odds like that, a person that won the lotto or got struck by lightning must be a fluke. Makes total sense! Thanks for clarifying.

You sound kinda condescending so I will take that as you dont believe me. DO YOU KNOW WHAT A FLUKE IS??

Its something that is totally random and just happens without prejudice, premeditation, or a trend. If you dont believe this to be a fluke, then why does it not happen to everyone? Has it happened to your car? Has it happened to any other tC? Do you know what caused it? Is there a recall?

ITS A FLUKE.

Okay. I stand corrected. I suppose it's used in the wrong ways all the time and I'm guilty of that. Forgive me. The point was, a few people have come into this thread looking at the first page or two and then replying without reading the rest of the thread.

*sigh* First I will ask what you think is meant by a fluke?
No it does not mean people think this is fake. ITS NOT FAKE.

Ok now if it isnt a fluke, I guess I will stop driving my tC because if it isnt a fluke, mine is going to catch on fire tomorrow. And if the dealer told you its not a "fluke", did he recall your car to fix the problem?

A FLUKE AS DEFINED:
"a chance event unlikely to occur again "

So dang, if the dealer told you it wasnt "a chance event unlikely to occur again "and didnt tell you to stop driving your car, I would be mad at him.

C'mon, folks, if you don't know what a word means, look it up - it's free and takes just seconds even if you don't have a dictionary: There are free ones on-line.

This fire was real, not faked. This fire was a fluke, not something expected to happen again, an accident, an odd happenstance.

Still be nice to know what caused this fluke, though.

ya sorry i thought you ment fake when you said fluke... but any way this is what happened (from what i herd) she was driveing down i95 and the lights in her dash start to blink and go crazy then some smoke starts to come from her dash so she pulled over and got out of the car and then the fire started to grow and...well you know the rest of the story... but the wierd thing is she didnt even try to contact the dealer... the dealer had to look up the temp. tag number and call her himself... so im thinking it had to be something she did to the car... if it were me i would have had the car towed directley to the dealer....
