Default tC Headlight Bulb Sizes

This is my shameless way to share some information and tell everyone...

I GOT MY tC TODAY!.. er Yesterday.

The hi beam bulbs are 9005 and the low beams are 9006... HID here I come!

Anywho.. I got my 5 spd Flint Mica yesterday.. only 5 miles (the boys at the dealership took it for a quick spin )

This car is everything I had hoped it to be.. sweet ride, plenty fast. The best part is that they didn't have the exhaust, intake etc. in yet so I get to drive it without and them compare it to when I do get the parts.. sweet!

I'm in Jacksonville, FL.. if you wanna see it I'll be at the Scion meet at Zaxby's on Blanding this Friday.

When the high beams are turned on, are all four bulbs on, or just the two high beams?

Just curious. My 6th gen celica used all four bulbs and they were the best headlights I've ever had in a car.. I could blister the paint off road signs at 100 yards Okay, well maybe that's a slight exaggeration...

Are you just getting the high end headlights for the thing or are you adding a whole HID kit? I've heard you can't legally do that anymore... let me know what the deal is.

No imitations...

Speeding is illegal too, but we all do it every now and then.

With it being a new car and all, anyone interested in checking wouldn't know it wasn't a dealer or factory option unless they were an enthusiast.

The hardest part was finding someone willing to sell the kit... enters eBAY! Even the stores on this site refused to sell them..

offroad use only of course...

damn the old people complaining to the DOT...

I found out the low beams DO stay on when you turn on the high beams!

--quick rant--

As for people complaining about HID.... bummer. I like it and I'm using it. It improves visibility and adds a nice look. As long as the aim is right, it shouldn't blind others.

The key is, don't look into the light Hell, the sun is bright, and at the right time of day is perfectly eye-level and blinding as hell but you don't see the DOT outlawing it... :D

There's too much other **** going on in the world, especially the US right now to be complaining about something stupid like headlights. Let there be light!!!

--end rant--

Anyway, I'm working on getting the other bulb sizes.. been too preoccupied tonight.

it was probably the same problem 100 years ago when they were putting electric lights on the "horseless carriages" instead of the regular gas lanterns....

people with HIDs don't have issues with the others that do... alignment really is key...

Here are the rest of the bulb sizes...

Hi Beam 9005, 60W, Halogen

Low Beam 9006, 51W, Halogen

Front Turn signals 21W, Amber Wedge Bulb

Parking 5W, Clear Wedge Bulb

Front Side Marker 5W, Clear Wedge Bulb

Brake/Tail/Rear Side Marker 7443, 21/5W, Clear Wedge Bulb

Rear Turn signals 7440, 21W, Clear Wedge Bulb

Reverse 921, 18W, 5W, Clear Wedge Bulb

Licence Plate 168, 5W, Clear Wedge Bulb

Interior (Front) 5W, Clear Wedge Bulb

Interior (Rear) 8W (yes, eight), Clear Wedge Bulb

Personal Lights 5W, Clear Wedge Bulb

Luggage Compartment 5W, Double End Bulbs

Also, noticed something new.. in the low beam headlight housing, there's another bulb besides the actual headlight. I think it's considered the parking lights. However, it seems to stay on when your headlights are on. I'm gonna play with it to see if it goes off when the break is off or something... I may have to switch this bulb out too if I go HID.. don't want a halogen holding me back

most likely that is a carry over from the euro spec cars... they call them city lights... a lot of the "coffee can" crowd put colors in there and a remote switch...

I put angel eyes on my current car and they add a certain 5series flare that I like... I would be super interested in making some for this car...

I am off to Houston tomorrow, so I can see my first tC... I guess I am getting old enough to not get antsy, but I guess I am a little anxious... :?

There's no number mentioned in the manual either. It's a standard wedge buld, so , yes a 168 should work... along with 194, 158, 147, 152, 158, 159, 161, 168, 184, 192, 193, 901, 904, 912, 916, 917, 918, 920, 921, 922, 923, 926, 927.

I ordered some replacement wedge bulbs to play around with. If i have any issues I'll let you all know.

I getting my Flint Mica Scion tC soon...I was interested in getting HIDs...but there are so many out there and from the pictures I have seen, makes me not want to get them. I currently have SilverStars on my Camry and they work great; bright and super white...stands out from the other camrys. But I would like to get HID for the tC...which brand do you guys recommend? Would like to have something with like a white with bluish tint NOT blue with White tint. Thanks guys
