Default tC is the new Celica?

While i was at the dealership buying my new tC, they told me that the tC is replacing the Celica. Is this true? They said the Celica has failed badly since the re-design, and since the tC did so well in 2005, they are cancelling the Celica. They also said that there is a good posibility of a new Supra like Scion coming out in 2007 or 2008. They were told from Toyota that they were extremely interested in bringing back the Supra but on the Scion line for younger generation. If this is true, this will be awesome. Can't wait to see the concepts for it.

i dont know about replacing the celica but i know the celica and mr2 will end production. And If the supra comes out as a scion (higly unlikely but if it does) you'll see a lot of scion haters turn around real fast. :D

The Supra a hybrid?... Thats kinda absurd. They want to make a Fuel Effiecent performance car. Does anyone else see the irony here? Its kinda like having a 34mpg Mustang. Sure it could happen but why would you want it to?

i heard that toyota was doing a joint venture with gm for their new "discontinued series again", a remake based upon the supra, celica, and chevy camaro....they're gonna call it the "supelicaro". it'll be a smaller but heavier rear wheel drive car with antiquated styling that only sells to tuners and drifters.

Apparently these are suppose to be prototype "spy" photo's of the new supra??? Correct me if I'm wrong. If this car were to be produced under the scion name it will not make sense to have such a performance vehicle under an entry level brand...sure the tC has some ***** but it's not a high performer, I'll tell you that much.

I have no idea about the Supra, but i have had a couple people tell me that they are stopping production of the celica because the tC has done so well and that they plan to market the tC as the sports car for the younger generation just as they did the celica.

wow, lotta false info on this thread. go to toyota website to see the super hybrid sports car-3 engines-0-60 mph in 3sec but its not the new supra. yes the supra may be produced again, but if its not a toyota then there is talk of it being a lexus but never never never a scion. and yes the celica and mr2 are done in the states, but not because of the tc

i talked 2 the dealer the last time and they said
Echo - > replaced by xA/xB
Matrix - > replaced by tC
Celica - >replaced by tC

those cars being replaced will be discontinued and they tried to get me to buy the celica because it was going to be the last model out there. Plus they didn't have the tC and they were desperate to sell me something :T

Toyota is developing a "viper-killer" (see pics above). It's rumored to have around 500hp or so, be very light, RWD, and with 8-10 cylinders.

I also saw a concept design of a sports car for Lexus, but the styling looked different than the Toyota's. I'm not sure it's the same car but it still could be.

I highly doubt Scion is going to release a real sports car. It would be too expensive to market to the younger generation. But I still kinda hope they do it.

No no no no no no no. It was announced the Celica was going bye bye before the tC even hit the show room floor. Whether or not the anticipated succuess with the tC, they new they no longer wanted the Celica. Also, I read in an article that someone from Toyota said the tC is not meant to be a Celica replacement.

You missed something in the conversation Supra will never, ever be produced by Scion, unless in the future something very drastic happens to the brand.
