tC is the new Celica?
two good points and very true, scion will probably never have a "real" sport car because of scion intensions of marketing to younger, less wealthy buyers, and the celica was discontinued before the tc came out, also true

i think toyota cancelled the celica in north america knowing the tc would come out. regardless of how poorly the celica was selling, toyota would expect celica sales to drop once the $4k-5K cheaper tc arrived. maybe toyota thought the glass roof feature of the tc, the lower price, and functionality of a backseat would take from potential mr2 spyder buyers as well. most celica buyers also fall into the scion age segment. older/more mature buyers would probably settle for the Solara before a celica or tc.
i dont think any car company in america would sell multiple cars within the same market segment. that wouldnt be cost effective.
Is the celica still available in Japan and Europe?

Scion is going to have a sports car in the next few years. Every brand of car out there, has low-priced, mid-priced, and high-priced. The Scion brand is made for the younger generation......but they never said they would all be cheap. They set the company up to be geared to first time buyers, and have done a great job at this. But what kids want is speed, and performance. They realize this, and i wouldnt doubt if they release a $20-30k super-sports car soon.
Scions are made with cheaper materials than the Toyotas are. This enables them to lower the price. Therefore, the tC which has alot more options than the Celica ever did, was able to sell around $5k cheaper. It would be the same with a new sports car. I'm not sure what the Supra actually sold for, but Scion could build one with cheaper materials, for alot less. I am not going to be suprised at all when they come out with a 400hp sports car for $22-25k or so.

Toyota = middle
Lexus = expensive
Your formula works! I kinda see the three brands as one really - even though they're all under Toyota.
I will trade for a Supra. Oh yeah.
Yes Scion Might have a Sports car, I have seen pics of the car it is a two Seat Convertible that kind of looks like a Small Audi TT.
BUT! That is ONLY if it passes the requirements to sell in the US.

With the Celica and the mr2 gone, Toyota really doesn't have an entry level sports coupe (Besides the 9th gen rollas, the xrs's are pretty nice though) so instead of saying a Celica replacement I think it would be safe to say "A Celica alternative"
Alright there's a couple things you guys need to get straight:
1) Toyota doesn't revive names, it's just that simple. There will be no new "Supra."
Will there be a badass sportscar arriving from a Toyota car Company soon enough? I'd say Yes. Will it be named the Supra? I doubt it, the company has never revived a name, and why should they start now? I'd say they'll start a new one. Maybe even add some letters/numbers to the name, It seems that's what's been going on in the industry these days. 8-10 cylinders? No way. 6-8 is much more likely given to company's track record, and the fact that it's an import company. When was the last time you saw a V-8 sedan from a Japanese company?
They've never made one, let alone seeing a V-10. I'd say it's possible that we could see a V-8, but I'd bet it'd most likely be a turbo'd or a supercharged V-6
2) Did the tC replace the Celica?
Yes, and No. The Celica was announced to be terminated before the tC ever hit a showroom. Did the tC take the place of the Celica? Well that's a matter of opinion. The tC has done remarkably well for Toyota, and ripped into some of the marketshare that was left from the Celica line, but as far as planned as a replacement. No. You should also note that the tC captured much more of the market than just the people looking to buy Celica's.
3) Will the Supra be a Scion?
Heck no. The world is waiting for the "New Supra" they aren't going to release it in a company that only services one country in the world. I'd say the "New Supra" is going to be a Toyota, it doesn't make marketing sense to rip off the Japanese market and Middle Eastern markets, (who loved the Supra) and the rest of the world by only releasing the Supra here. Also I don't think the "New Supra" will fit with the Scion mission of hooking younger buyers into the Toyota Line of cars. While the target audience for Scions and the "New Supra" are the same I'd say that the "New Supra" would do a bad job hooking someone into the Toyota Lineup, as it'll be too damn expensive. (30k-50k is my best guess) I'd say the "New Supra" is going to be a Toyota or a Lexus, depending on who they're going after witih it. If they're going after the new Eclipse, 350z, or RX-8, it'll be a Toyota. If they're going after the G-35 or M3 look for a Lexus.
Also don't be surprised if within 5 years of the "New Supra" coming out Toyota comes out with a new performance Sedan as well.
These are my opinions based on what I know to be true, and a limited amount of deduction from given information. if you think I'm wrong I don't really care. If you've got an alternative idea go nuts and post it, but don't flame me for my thoughts.

You would have to be out of your mind to get the Celica with the prices they are offering on the far superior tC anyway.
As far as a Supra goes, a REAL Supra model would only fall under the Toyota brand due to its cost being over 30,000. The Scion is for entry level quality cars, but not for super cars. wow, I enjoy typing
