Default Is the tC not made for + size people?

Yes or No?

I think the tC was aimed for slim people and i'm saying this from experience, Gave my fat friend a ride and that poor bastard barely had enough room to move around (His Legs)

I don't mean to offend anyone but I would like to hear what you think.

I wouldn't call myself fat (got alot of muscle), but at 6' and 265 lbs, I'm not skinny either. I fit fine, and find the bolsters still hug me. As the driver, my legs have a lot of room to still bounce around and move. I drive a 5-sp and shifting is never a problem. I can still pump the seat up a lot, adjust the leg support all the way up and sit comfortable and have room to have my legs under the wheel (let alone getting in and out of the car). Not to mention, in the owners manual it talks about a seat belt extension that you can use for those people with large guts.

I'd have to disagree with you.

I'm a big guy myself and I have no issues with the tC.

I feel a lot more comfortable in the tC then i did in my Corolla! so I'd also have to disagree with you.

A few months ago when I settled on the tC as my car of choice and started yakking about it with the office folk, a guy here at work got excited
about it and went down to the local dealership to test drive one himself. He is a rather robust gent and came back complaining that it gave him no room.

Last week I played a lot with the seat options after I bought mine, and I think there would be more than enough room if its adjusted properly, but what do I know?

Postscript; He's now waiting on the Monte Carlo to be released, and after talking further with him I personally think he just won't buy a car that's not made in the USA and used the 'fit' of the tC seat as an excuse.

Adjust the seats... and your chubby friend will fit fine. I'm not small, nor is my bf and another of our friends, and each of us has fit just fine in my tC, even in the back seat. The back seat is a little shy on headroom for a very tall person though.

Unless by Plus Size, you meant 700 pounds, 8 feet tall... in which case, ya.. it's gonna be a tight squeeze.

The topic of this thread should be "Are sports Compact Cars designed for + size people?" Cause the tC has more room than an RSX, Honda Civic, Hyundai Tiburon, any other 3 door you can think of. The car was created on a 4 door vehicle platform. wich is why it is so heavy, but the car has plenty of room.

I'm 6' and 235 pounds with large legs, and I have no problems with the size of the driver's seat area except for head room (which has nothing to do with being fat).

Good point. The tC won't stack up against many larger cars, but for it's class I think it's pretty good.

Ok guys, I am 6'2" 275 lbs. Played football for Maryland. I fit fine. As long as you crank the drivers seat all the way down (seat height adjustment), you should be fine. I still have an inch or 2 of head space

This car is made for larger people, as you can tell by looking at the width of the seat.

I'm not large and find the seats offer just enough fit for me. Some adjustable side bolsters would have been very welcome in my car.

Default Leg Cramps

I am 6-2 and weigh 200lbs, though I have to agree that in congested traffic of 40-60 minutes, I wish the seat and steering wheel could move back another half inch or so.
If I tilt the seat back an extra notch to releive lower back/leg strain, I can't safely reach the upper half of the steering wheel. Anybody have a thread for tall drivers like me?

When I test drove for 5 minutes this was not an issue, though now I hate driving home after work and am thinking about selling my '06 tC with a thousand dollars worth of upgrades still in boxes.
If there's anybody in Miami FL that knows a shop that can help me out, please PM - I would hate to sell this great car. Not to mention the $$$ I will lose.

telescopic + tilt = extra $$$ , it would be nice tho

only problem i have is my hair is already touching the moonroof cover, but i just have to open it then its all good. maybe stiffer side bolsters to the stock seats would be nice

Its not the most roomy car out there. But for a compact car its huge except for rear headroom.

6-4, 245 lbs.
Not only do I fit in there - for Xmas day, I took my wife and son and daughter AND a baby seat in the middle!
My son and daughter are tall, and there is so much room I was shocked!
More than the Mustang GT I was renting (to test) and it seems like even more (except headroom in the rear) than our RAV4.

I don't know, but if you can't fit comfortably in the tC - you gotta be a huge ****.

Scott

PS - Scion_ce: Terp? Used to be a Nittany Lion! Rock on.
