Default tC for old farts?

I have seen several mentions of "old farts" buying Scions. I can remember being in my late teens thinking anyone over 30 was an old fart. Well I am one of them now and it is not so bad. For one, you tend to have more disposable income. I was buying nothing buy BMW's and MB's and a few years ago left those behind for a Beetle Turbo. It was not a mid-life crisis, I just wanted something that I could personalize and have some fun with. The aftermarket parts for those cars put Scion to shame...for now. I expect to see good things come along for my new tC.

This old fart bought a tC because:

1. It looks great.
2. There are not a lot of coupes out there to choose from.
3. The quality is well above what I expected in a $17K vehicle.
3. It has enough power to be used as a daily commuter on the freeways of Houston.
5. I had $20K set aside for a downpayment on a new Mercedes Benz.

Since I just purchased a brand new home one month ago, I decided it would be nice not to have a car payment. With a few options, sales tax and the 6 year, 100, 000 platinum warranty, I had to kick in just another grand and I don't have to worry about monthly payments to Toyota Credit.

The TC is a nice car for all, not just 30ish people...Just because it's not right for me .....it might be right for you....

Maybe keep the cash you saved for your new house, and look for offers on cars...like 0 APR.. if they are still around or maybe just put 10K down on the TCand use the other in the market??

You forgot

6) It doesn't come in "mid-life-crisis-yellow"

Yes, I'm an old fart, too. Yes, I'm paying cash, we all do.

Too bad it did not come in mid-life crisis yellow. I guess Toyota thought that Chevrolet had that target group covered with the SSR and the Corvette.

Let's see a Spec Edition tC in purple and I will trade in the silver in a heartbeat.

I know another mid 30's guy who just got slot #1 for the Spec Edition xA and has requested first spot for the Spec Edition tC if and when it comes out...as long as it is not yellow. He's paying cash for both. Isn't it great not to be a struggling student!

Toyota, if you are reading this forum, ROYAL PURPLE.

Just wait until your 80. "80 isn't old. 110 is old." I hope for our sakes in 50 years being 80 is enjoyable compared to today's seniors... heh

Doom 3 is out on PC, xbox no official date, but you're looking at probably around november at the earliest (I work at Gamestop).

____.... i wish i was able to say " i used to buy bmw's and mb's" and "i had 20K set aside" lol

after im done with my as degree, im gonna have a buttload of debt to repay. since u old farts have money like that, how about a donation to the "buy undecidedfate a tC foundation" ? its a very worthy cause.

Yep, being 35 yo has allowed me to keep my G35 6mt coupe and buy a tC. I've set aside about $10,000 for mods on the tC. Life was fun during college, but the toys are fun in your 30's.

Hey, let's not be thinking 80-something is old. My 80-something grandparents bought a Honda Element the month they came out. And yes, they got the canoe rack option and 4wd. Probably use it more than the 20-something Element drivers around here.

I'm another of those 30-somethings with a tC.

I've seen far more old ladies/men behind the wheel of xB than TCs so far.

I helped sell a Black Cherry Pearl tC to a grandfather. He was a nice guy, He asked what he should/shouldn't get with it. I told him he didn't have to get anything unless he wanted them. He was interested in the TRD exhaust and ended up getting a stock tC. He said he might get the exhaust later...
