Default is the tc really reliable?

hi everyone,

im a new owner of a 07 tc with 79k miles, the car never gives me any problems besides a squeaky clutch, but im a lil concerned about the precat

my friend have a 02 sentra specv that has a precat on the headers, it failed 2 time casusing by the engine heat, so the chips from the cat honey comb would get in to the cylinders and scrapes cylinder wall. his car would loss half the oil between a 2800 miles oil change, now the check engine light is on again for the precat.

do most the new cars have a cat built in the headers?

I believe that is an engineering error on Nissan's part. The 02-03 I heard were notorious for having a cat failure. I have not heard anything regarding this issue with the tC.

Some cars have engine issues. Some have electrical problems. You can't just judge the tc's reliability based on a problem one other car had.

i know for sure its a design flaw with those nissan's, but IMO any precat in the header would suffer from excessive engine heat, in a result of premature failure

i never had a car with a precat, my friend's experience its a nightmare to me, because in cali with the smog law and cops, they wont let you get away with an aftermarket header and o2 sim, it just bothers me knowing that i cant legally modify tc's exhaust.
