Default tC Security

What does this include exactly? I heard something about the ignition. Does the stock come with keyless entry? Anybody know?

Thanks.

Engine immobilizer. Have to have the correct key to start the ignition. This does not prevent theft but can slow it down since I think you need a tow truck to steal the car.

Stock does come with keyless entry... and the buttons are built into the key head.

The alarm is essentially a plug-in option with immobilizer.

Default Umm..

"The alarm is essentially a plug-in option with immobilizer." I'm not sure what that means exactly.

So if the stock includes keyless entry and engine immobilizer, what does the option of security system add? Just an alarm for almost $500, doesn't seem worth it to me.

The security also adds a window breakage sensor.

And 8,000,000 volts of electricity running through the door handles at all times.

I also remember something about auto-arming as well.. good for us forgetful folks. ah, ok here we go, the info is on wanttc.com:

anti-theft warranty (good to have especially if you have a stock stereo i imagine)
auto-rearm
door lock/unlock
interior light activation
panic mode (but i do remember even the standard tc has a panic mode, i'm pretty sure)

After much thought i decided to get it.. its pricey, but from what i saw of the aftermarket ones, i decided to go with this since its tailored specifically for scions..

to me it doesn't seem like the security upgrade is really worth the $469, since most of the security features you really need are standard. anyone differ?

I personally saved 450 from the security and am going to get aftermarket. Scions is way expensive and really the only good feature in my opinion is that it ties into the existing fob. But for 450 installed you can get an aftermarket alarm that has a screen on the fob that tells you when your alarm goes off and you can sign up for a service that is like one star for you gm people but 10 times better. Its made by clifford.

I asked my dealer about that and they said its just a regular separate keychain. The buttons are not on the key as it is portrayed on the website. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

**Just to clarify, I have the car already but my dealer didn't get the option in on time.. so I'm waiting until next week for them to install them.. I bought the system, it just hasn't been installed yet.**

Don't get the security package from the dealer...

You already have keyless, you are paying $470 for a glass break sensor...

I had a Viper Responder with Remote Start installed for $550 ($350 if you don't want the autostart) you can even get that cheaper.

But this will page your keychain telling you the status of your car (locked, running) etc..

You will loose your Valet key in the process since the keys are chipped but you also get that neat little blue led in your dash. I am less concerned about my car being stolen as I am people breaking in to get my HU so this will page me up to 1/2 mile away.

keyless entry is not a alarm. I got the alarm installed. i can see that it's a little expensive, but i wanted it for insurance purposes b/c ny sucks and my insurance company is raping me. it just have a starter disabler thing and the window sensor things. i forget the exact specs - i have the little booklet in the glovebox. i'll get it out later and copy it here if anyone strill wants to know exactly what it does.

So does anyone know exactly what the Anti-Theft warranty covers?, so if they steal any audio equipment, like amps and subs, its all covered?
