tC Spec Weight
I was wondering the same thing. Does anyone out there have a spec package tc with no sunroof? I've seen one before when I lived in Miami, but thats it. Also the car salesmen who sold me my tc said that I could have also gotten the spec package tc with a traditional trunk instead of hatchback, but I think he was just dumb and making stuff up like car salesmen do.
lol, or just didnt know any better, spec tc still has a glass roof, even if u take out the motors and sliders, that wont cut 50 pounds, maybe the smaller wheels will make it feel lighter on its feet on the straight line, but suffer on cornering, seriously, the spec tC should have been priced at 14,000 because paying 1,200 more for 17'rims, sunroof, and cruise control, is a deal on its own!!

How information gets so twisted around never ceases to amaze me.

Well, I bought my car used a while back because all I could afford at the time was a used tC. Now I'm much better off financially, and have always wanted to own a car from the time it was brand new. So I was just debating the performance benefit of having a tC Spec as opposed to a base model. I don't really care about any of the things that the Spec doesn't have, so a brand new tC that invoices at $15k sounds pretty appealing to me seeing as I would put new wheels on it anyway.

now the big question..
where are you going to find a spec tC??
i usually still advise people to just get a new regular tC anyway because of the not worth the things they took off aspect, but if your plans are to really work on it, it would be more ideal...
just remember the aspect of the tuner spec tC is a bit different than what most people percieve it as.
i'm still curious how much you even spent on your used tC... most times it's still much more financially better to purchase a new one.
but as far as performance? there's no difference.

i understand, that the spec tC is meant as a "bare model" but something like taking off a sunroof is not bare, at least not with a big glass with two useless holes on the healined, the rims i understand, most people even with regular tcs end up chucking them anyways
I have a spec package and I beg to differ. My car is only 2,300 lbs and its super aerodynamic compared to the regular tc because of the traditional trunk. Lol jk. I have a spec. I was actually thinkin about taking it in for a weighing just for curiosities sake. I bought it cuz I'm not a fan of the opening roof.

Speaking of getting weighed in, I work as a scale operator and decided to wiegh the tc yesterday. I was running on fumes so no gas in the tank. I weigh 175 and I have roughly 100lbs of audio equipment in the car. So that comes out to 3100-175-100 ~2825 lbs. I'm not sure if the official weight available online is with gas in the car or not.
I didn't want to resize the pic as to not mess with the wieght information in the lower righthand corner.
