Default tC sweet spot...

i have an auto bsp. i was driving one day and i feel the need in racing a manual tc. I have found the sweet spot to my car and know how to drive it well enough to compete with some manuals. Though i never drovve a manual tc before. anyone else's thoughts on this?

im pretty sure u would, u do drive a manual. but im saying, one doesnt drive an auto just by flooring it all the way through, you gotta know how and when to floor it and when to release the pedal. With practice i wish to master this sweet spot i found. i live in LA btw, i doubt u wanna drive over the nation. besides, i dont street race, only on the track. well im out
peace

let me know how that sweet spot is doing when you're 4-5 car lengths behind me in my 5speed tC.

there isn't a huge difference btwn the 5M and 4A in the tC The 5M does quarter mile in about 15.7, while the auto does it in 16.3, not a huge difference... And this is if you can shift the manual like a pro

Where do you live that 0.6 seconds is not a huge difference? That's about a 4 car length lead...

dont forget about reaction time, b/c the mt will be able to take off much faster, and most people dont race 1/4 mile. with something that colse it would come down to the dirver. however the mt would have a slight advantage.

each tenth of a second in the quarter mile is very close to 1 car lenght, so comparing a 15.7 to a 16.3 would be about 6 car lengths.

the times in the magazines are usually a few seconds slower then what really can be done also.

Ok, lets say that at the end of the quarter mile you are going 90.0 MPH in a tC. At 90 miles an hour, that is equal to 475,200 feet an hour, which is 7920 feet a minute, which is 132 feet a second. 6 tenths of a second would be 79 feet and 2.4 inches.

If the quarter mile trap speed at the end of the run is higher than 90, then it would be an even larger lead yet.

I have an auto too, and I think I know the "sweet spot" he's talking about. It doesn't actually make the car faster, it just shifts quicker... seems to me flooring it is faster, even with that "wait for it" moment while it decides what gear to get into.

i think that is the first time that i heard a .6 difference isn't much.

The only time any car is in its "sweet spot" is when it's in its power band. If you drive an Auto and are racing, you had better floor it and not wait for your sweet spot. Just because something "feels" faster doesn't mean it is.

Not trying to bash and I hope I am not wrong in what you are trying to say.

I really hope you meant a few TENTHS slower because if you can drive your stock tC to a 13 second quarter mile, i'll give you mine.
