I was under the impression that the 5spd had a lower final drive than the auto.. something like 4:11 vs 3.90. if this is true, there is no way youd be able to even keep up with the manual. you might have a SLIGHT advantage at very high speeds with the higher gears but the drivetrain hp loss would make up for it lol...

on another note, why is the auto shift console so ugly??? it is so 'echo' looking....very cheap korean car like in mu opinion

If the quarter mile trap speed at the end of the run is higher than 90, then it would be an even larger lead yet.

I have an auto too, and I think I know the "sweet spot" he's talking about. It doesn't actually make the car faster, it just shifts quicker... seems to me flooring it is faster, even with that "wait for it" moment while it decides what gear to get into.
Now this is all assuming just an end speed, remember you have different rates of acceleration as well.

Peace

ok...here we go again with the off topic stuff...look bottom line...if you have an auto and ur racing a manual...u will get smoked period...now for all this sweet spot mumbo jumbo...look dude u drive an auto...i drove auto's for a while, there is no sweet spot...just floor it and make that engine squeel...FYI the only spot i know of is the g-spot and thats on ladies, and if u cant find that, you should tuck ur manhood between ur legs and wear a skirt...ha ha ha...anyway theres my two sense :D

LETS BE REAL HERE!!!!

Short run = Manual kills

Long run = (WHO KNOWS) depends on the driver but Auto has upper hand. Again depends on driver.

If its a manual Sprint or something like it Vs a stock tC then maybe we can talk 1/4 milage.

Let me answer that for you...

Long run= Manual wins... due to a better final drive ratio it will reach its aerodynamic potential speed faster than an auto. Plus once that auto shifts into 4th gear, the show is over!

Peace

Auto won't beat a manual, technically. Not feasable, now theres a possibility of a crap driver, but the car itself, a manual beats an auto. The simply fact is, for every "sweet spot" you find in your auto, a manual will always be better, because in a manual you can pick your "sweet spot" and when you want to enter it ...its a driver thing. An auto shouldn't beat a manual.

if anyone thinks there automatic tc can beat a manual tc with no or similar mods, please read delayedturbo's post over and over until you realize he's right and you aren't.
