tC Throttle "Chirp" or "Squeal"
A couple months ago I noticed that my tC makes a short, high-pitched "chirp" or "squeal" noise when I add throttle after shifting.
Originally, I thought this noise was coming from the clutch or transmission. However, I started playing around with how I shift and add throttle and found that the noise has nothing to do with the cluth & transmission.
I can let off the throttle, push the clutch all the way in, shift and let the clutch back out without touching the accelerator pedal and I don't hear any noise. However, as soon as ease the throttle in the engine makes the "chirp" or "squeal" noise.
Additionally, I've also noticed that the noise occurs if I coast in gear for a some distance and then add the throttle back. Same noise, without ever shifting or depressing the clutch.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, is your tC a 5-spd or auto?
I think this is related directly to the factory air intake design. It's not a performance issue, but it's damn annoying when I drive with the window down because it is the most obvious to me then.

I get that too.
It usually happens when i gas it going around 40-50mph in 4th or 5th gear .
The noise comes and goes randomly.
Since the noise becomes more audible when I press the gas I was thinking its my transmission.
So this sound is normal???

When I first noticed the noise, I was using the oem air filter.
However, I switched to a K&N air filter about two months ago. My mind may be playing tricks on me, but it sure seems that the noise got louder when I switched from oem to K&N filters.
But then again, I didn't drive around with my windows down with the oem filter in the middle of winter. Maybe its just that I have the windows down more now with spring here...and its easier to notice.

That's perfectly normal on all tC models prior to 2007. I drive an RS 3 and mine doesn't make that noise and to be honest I was kind of disappointed :-) My cousin just put an Injen short ram on his tC and it made it really loud, such that it sounds like a turbo without a blow off valve.
