Default tC TYC taillights are out, difficult to install by DIY?

I'm considering getting them, but i'm not sure whether its easy to install by myself. Or I will have to get the dealer to install them for me?

They should be pretty easy to install. The wiring should also be plug and play. Removing the tails is no real task.

Lets put it this way, the dealer install price from what I heard today was $50....this has to be like adding air to the tires.....these guys won't do much of anything for $50

I shouldn't think that they would be terribly hard to install yourself, especially if you have some experience with installs; but in all honesty, I have no idea.

like i asked in the other post on the tails, what happens to the brake light bulbs for each tail light? being that the brake lights are now led lights and the bulbs aren't needed, do they detach easily (like unclip or something) or need to be cut off?

I haven't seen the connections yet from the LED's. But I ordered a kit yesterday, so when I get them next week, I will take pics as I go thru the install.

Are we talking about those fugly taillights i've seen around different places? Or did TYC get the hint and redo them? These really are just bad.

I'm interested in how it looks too. So far some people told me they look pretty good on the tC. I really would love to see different angle pics! The original TYC post just show two angles, not enough!

Please remember, the TYC tails we all saw pictures of had amber bulbs in the turn signal area. They aren't quite as mismatched as that set of photos made them seem.

i've had experience with taking off my taillights. its no easy task. but it can be done. you most likely will break one of the clips for your old tail light that hold it in, but its pretty much the only way without taking it to the dealer. i wouldn't get these tyc taillights. just wait a couple more months until more people make better designs.

Wait, what kind of car is that?

I don't care for the design either but to each his own.

I think if they kept the whole lens red instead of breakin it all up , and just stickin to LEDS it would look real good , As for the connectors I am sure its a plug and play set up .

Yea, I'd be interested to see them on an SSM car. Time to fire up Photoshop I guess.

Why cant they just come out with a simple clear tail light? I think that would look better than those fugly ones in the pic.
