Yeah, im guessing it just depends on conditions.
But I must say, the tC does quite well considering its a 4 banger...possibly because its a huge 4 banger that is geared really low ;-)

I'm getting a little tired of people comparing our cars with cars worth twice as much. Try racing a Civic, Sentra, Tiburon, Ion, stuff like that...

Cars worth twice as much???
The SL I raced was about a 92...worth, $7000 max.

But I do agree. I just saw this post, and this was a car I had actually raced, so I posted.

I traded a 2002 civic ex coupe (5 speed) for my tC, and the tC is WAAAAY faster.
Raced a V6 5 speed grand am...smoked him...and for the rest? Havent met them on the streets yet ;-)

Worth twice as much? i think u used the wrong phrase for that, see last time i checked the 3000gt cost twice as much as our car, but the 3000gt isn’t worth crap, that is why they discontinued it. If it was worth anything they would still make it, but i do agree with racing cars in a our own league civics, tib, etc.

Oh yeah, if we were going year for year (if that was even possible) the 3000gt would be worth twice as much almost, and yes, the cost is why they were discontinued, as well as the 300zx, supra, etc.

I was just referring to my specific example...I didnt feel too bad for losing, since my car was about 12 years newer, and the chicks like it way more...hehehe

Okay, let's pull up the specs on the 96 SL. 218 hp and 205 ft/lbs of torque. Manual weighs 3329 lbs and the automatic weighs in at 3417. I'm not sure which one of those you have, but let's assume you have the manual.

A tC produces 160 hp and 163 ft/lbs of torque. A manual equipped tC weighs in at 2905 lbs.

Power to weight ratio for these two cars would be 0.0655 hp/lb for the SL and 0.0551 for the tC.

So, it looks like the SL should be faster than the tC.

Agreed. I believe the tC is 7.4 0-60, while the SL is 7.0 or 7.1.
And my little street race (though not the most accurate circumstance) proves both to be true. Again, I hate to go against my own car, but the 3000 is the faster car.

Yeah when I say worth I do mean cost sorry lol...

The tC is the best car for the money, period. I had a turbo 2002 Civic EX before this WhitetC, were you on 7thgen.com? My old user name was madwheel...

Also, the car used is 7k. I could go buy a high mileage S4 for the same price as a tC and spank tCs left and right. New for new, the only car within 3k that runs the tC into the ground is the SRT-4. But I'd rather take a nice car over a fast car.
