tC vs. other cars
So, I bought a 2010 tC in the fall of last year b/c someone hit my xA (which was one of the funnest cars I have driven) and totaled it. Ever since the spring, I have been looking for a new car. I have learned a lot about issues with other cars. I have looked at Mazdaspeed3's, Cobalt SS/SC and SS/TC, and the Sentra Spec V. I have done the least amount of research on the speed3 but all the others have some sort of nagging issue or issues to go with them. I have had zero problems with my car except for an exhaust leak (my fault) and not been to the dealer once since purchasing it. I have done a few oil changes and tire rotations, that's it. B/w the Cobalt SS/SC clutch issues, front end bushing, melting #4 pistons and such, the car is probably not worth it but has serious hp potential, oh, let's not forget the weak drive axles so don't push too much power through it. The Spec V has this mysterious bogging/hesitation issue that cannot be explained by any dealership or Nissan themselves. It seems to be related to the knock sensor but nothing is concrete yet. Maybe I am just a lucky tC owner who has escaped the gremlins of owning a machine but so far, so good. As much as most of complain about power (or lack there of), it is better to have less power and rolling then more power and in the shop all the time! That is my .02 and wanted to throw this out there. I do drive my car like I stole it most of the time and with around 15k on the odometer, still purring like puma!
From owning a Cobalt and being friends with many cobalt owners, the problems you express about it is with fairly decent modding. Most of the Ss/sc's do not have those problems. The SS/TC is well worth the money and has some neat features.
i really like the cobalt ss/tc. my friend had one with maybe $800 in it and was already running mid 12's and he let me drive it, fast and fun. only problems he had was CEL and nothing his tuner couldnt fix.
I do agree...I like the SS/SC a lot. I think it would be worth the money to have one. Trust me, I am looking. Trying to figure out if quality/reliability are worth the 45 hp stock over the tC, which is a nice ride. I have an exhaust (thinking about switching to Ptuning's N/A exhaust, injen SRI, twm sts, clazzio seat covers, progress rear sway (waiting to be installed, along with shifter bushings). I think the interior of the tC, especially with the seat covers, sts, and leather boot from shiftstyle make a huge difference. Better than the cobalt's interior except for the gauges and the seats! I love the seats. I am just saying overall, the quality of the tC seems to be superior compared to our counterparts (no recalls) at least on the 2010's. But like I said, maybe I do not have enough miles on my car for something to go wrong making me hesitant to jump to a difference car!

Clazzios are night and day! It IS my favorite mod done with the sts and shiftstyle leather boot to match. Totally worth the money. Good quality, seem durable, way better than the crappy ugly cloth on the seats!
der harr harr harr....her hehe her hehe de
theres that powerful, mind blowing, intelligence springing forth to say yet again some worthless bit of conniving trivial opinionated filth.
back it up with some facts next time. because on a forum filled with adults you look like a daiper wearer.

For the price the tc is the best car to get. But of course if you want to get a better car then you going to pay more. Also I prefer a tc over any cobalt, Cobalt can have more power but it will never look better than a tc. If you want built in turbo go either GTI or SRT.
My sister has an '04 Cavalier, and my cousin has a '07 Cobalt LT. If you think OUR cars rattles...just ride in one of theirs. I don't care for the SC cobalts, but the turbocharged SS at least have the power we lack. and the looks just aren't right.
The grass is always greener on the other side. Drive someones car for a week or so...then you'll know some of the pros and cons of each vehicle.
i'm more than happy with my '05 tC i paid $4200 for. Would I finance it new for $19K? Thats a different story.

tC is good for its bracket when compared to lancer gts, mazda 3,and etc cars with same price and power it out performs them and the tC has by far a bigger aftermarket than most cars in its range
i got my 06 scion tC manual w/ 25k miles in DEC'08 for only 11.7k out the door
