Yah, gotta agree. Subi's design is not their strong point. Love the drivetrain, love the engines, but I don't have enough cash to build my own body to go with them...

I am suprised almost daily by people who want to get an sti and think it looks hot. It literally amazes me. Zoltiz is right, unless I had the money to fabricate a new body for it, I wouldn't buy one. And then, I'd still probably spend my money elsewhere.

Easy, cause they are not concerned with the looks of the car. PPL that buy these cars buy them for PERFORMANCE.. what is so hard to comprehend. If not, then they would of bought a G35 coupe or something around the same price level as the STi. Bottom line, you can't beat the STI/EVO for performance value. Ugly, yeah it is, but just like everyone is saying, you are not building a tC that is going to compete against the STi in every category that this car strives in, unless you feel like dropping AT LEAST 15g's.

you can do anything with enough money. who says they have to use the tc engine, i'm sure with enough money you could convert it to RWD and use a supra engine, then mod that engine. it will take the sti in a 1/4. hell my buddys friend ran a 13.1 1/4 but blew his engine half way down the track. his car could take the stock sti, and it's an older civic hatch. yeah it will never handle like a sti, but it sure as hell can beat it in a 1/4 if enough money is dumped into it

Thats not what I am talking about. I know it has great performance, but these people are saying that the sti looks visually appealing, and not like a pile of crap thrown on top of a great engine and transmission.

I always figured that people buy WRXs because they have a poor ride and fall apart quickly. At least, that's what I've heard.

the wrx's ride great, and are fast. there weak link is the tranny. the input shaft pretrudes too far into the bell housing without the aid of a bearing. the long input shaft has a tendency to flex, causing misalignment in the gears. i'v read of people breaking the input shaft from launching too hard

Wrx's transmission are just fine, it's just that some drivers abuse their tranny by doing high rpm clutch drops. Sti tranny's are significally stronger than the wrx varient, so you here some stories about sti's axels breaking off. With awd + strong tranny + little wheelspin = something's gotta give.

Looks however, I couldn't agree more. Their agressive design is shamelessly overdone, but of course, looks are subjective. Most think sti are ugly, but I myself, grew quite fond of my large hookscoop and rear spoiler.

I was looking at the sti specs, and I was really surprised to see that it weighs almost 400 pounds more than a tC.

rawr the tc is front wheel drive, the sti is AWD and will always, no matter how much money you put into your car the sti will always have it up on the tc... unless u completely re-did the drivetrain...

not in the 1/4 mile infact because it's AWD it loses about 25% power to the wheels where as the tc is losing about 13%. unless you change the split from 50/50 or 60/40 what ever it is so it's more like 20/80, you won't be able to launch that hard if i'm not mistaken the track is very sticky and with awd, it grips too much. now i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure i'm right

the STI has better balance and much more room for improvement than the tC.... anything IS possible, but those Subarus are a whole class above the tC.

Stick to similar cars... Civic, Integra, Neon, ... yada yada...
