Default tC's A/C is Weak..

Took me by surprise today, being today was one of our warmest days.

Coming from my WRX, I would get instant freezing cold after about 2-3 minutes.

Today it was about 90+ outside and it took the tC almost 20 minutes before it started pumping
out nice chilly air and another 15 total 35 minutes before the car was nice and cool.

Even at full blast, with re-circulation on, it took forever before it was comfortable.

Otherwise I love the car.

I am not exaggerating. I wouldn't have bothered to post if there wasn't an issue.

I do not think this is an issue. The WRX maybe had a bigger AC Compressor. So that might explain the coldness difference. I drive with the AC all day and it works fine. Comes out very cold. I think you might be the only one experiencing this problem. Is there any other problems you would like to _____ about today? Windshield washer fluid to blue?

I know what you mean by weak

They don't think tC's AC is weak since they don't have a better car before tC.

I also found the A/C to be sub-par (even for an compact coupe)...

I used to have a 150hp 99 Nissan Altima and the air conditioner I think was better than the Scion tC air conditioner.

Anyway, I think the Scion tC air conditioner is better than the air conditioner in my 127HP vtec 2003 Civic EX coupe.

Yeah... I just traded in my Maybach and it had better AC than the tC...as well as the seats in comparison! Cheap ___ tC.

{That statement is just as bad as the person who compares the tC to a WRX....You cant compare....diff price class idiot... Its like comparing the above.}

Nice to see not everybody is a total sackrider and recognize the faults.

It's the freaking air conditioner, this isn't comparing apples to oranges.

This is comparing air conditioning which has ONE task, to keep you cool.

Doesn't matter if it is a $100,000 car, $50,000 car, $30,000 car, $5,000 piece of crap, the AC in all of these cars have the same simple task.

i had a wrx, sold it for a tC. The tC is better in every single category...besides awd and turbo. i would trade a smooth clutch and good build quality anyday over the tin can subaru calls a car.

and the a/c in my tC is comparable, if not better than my wrx. do you make sure you close the sun roof shades when you park in the sun? and also, air the car out when you first get in...put the a/c on and drive with the windows down for a second to get rid of the superheated air

tC's a/c is ok, better than my old corolla, but again, i am comparing two cars with ten years of difference in technology. no, tC's a/c is not a super cooler, but it's about average for car fall in to the same price range.

I have had 4 Toyotas and the A/C is definitely not as good as some other manuf. (ie. my wife's Subaru Baja a/c is better). But overall the tC A/C is more than adequate. Just remember when the cabin gets cool, press the recirc button to help out.
