Default test drove an XA the other day...

and it was ok. the suspension is good enough, but found it short on torque especially when merging into the freeway. cant imagine how this car will go over the grapevine like how some members are going through. without putting a supercharger in the picture, will those common mods such as intake, header and axle back exhaust make a difference? i know the small 1.5 engine can only do so much but occasionally we could use some extra ooomph. i test drove an auto.

btw, people with heavy right foot, hows your mileage? i know if i get this car, i'll be flooring it most of the time to keep up with traffic.

truth is the little 1.5 won't make that much, but it's enough for some.

It sounds like you definitely want more "touchable" power with adequate gas milage. If I were you, I'd look for something used that hasn't been touched with a bolt on turbo or supercharger available and go that way. If you can afford it. Go TC or something with more power to start with.

Reminder - I'm not you.

Sounds like you want a car with more torque to begin with. Though it's possible to add it to a xA or xB, it'll be expensive and reliability will eventually be an issue. I'm not telling you to not get an xA or to not add the SC, but just know what you're getting in to. :D

ya, i thought about other models too but the xa is different and looks like a pretty good value for your $. i will surely plan on adding i/h/e and suspension mods if i get it and wondering if its enough to move it?

I say get the manual... I've gone through the grapevine w/o an issue on a stock motor... I can have a heavy foot and still manage to get about 33 mpg... the add ons definitely wouldn't hurt, but above all else I would say get the manual if it is at all an option
