Big YES. The brakes are one of the TC's major weak points.

I would be all over a bigger rotor/caliper kit.

 

Then have you're dealer check them, because my brakes are great.

I don't need bigger brakes until I have more horsepower.

 

There is nothing wrong with my brakes, they work how they should.

For everyday driving, the TC's brakes are fine, but for spirited driving they are WEAK. For the weight of the car, they aren't the best match for really "enjoying" the car.

I can live with my brakes - if it gets really bad - I have a set of slotted brembos that I can always put in...

But having a kit available is always good.

 

We have a set on the way to test. Will post our findings.

 

not confirmed, but another tC owner mentioned that he bolted on a spare celica GT-S big brake kit with no problems.

 

Interesting. I did hear that the brakes/hub assemblies were the same on the tC and Celica. Also, the rotors are the same diameter, so I'm not incredibly surprised that a Celica kit would fit. It certainly opens up some otions if all the Celica braking parts will fit.

Also, I noticed StopTech has the same kit listed for the Matrix, Celica and tC, so I'm pretty confident most Celica kits would fit.

You are right. The Celica hubs are what the tC uses

 

We have just got our tC Big Brake Kit in from StopTech. We will test fit today and post some more pictures. We will be selling these kits (pending fitment). Retail $1795.00, we are in talks with ST to see it we can offer a special one time deal to ScionLife.com members for a better price. We will keep you posted.

 

I hope they'd let you offer a lower price because $1800 just for a front brake upgrade is pretty steep.

 

I like the idea of the AEM kit which uses the stock calipers with bigger rotors. Also, you won't have to disconnect the calipers and bleed the system with the AEM kit.

 

forgive me for asking this, but I've never had anything but factory brakes on my cars... will bleeding off the brakes and changing the size of everything, affect the ABS???
