Things I'm surprised aren't made for the tC
Markup will never go away.. When you deal with International Logistics issues, money is something of importance.. thus resulting in the markup.. I forsee a bunch of old technology to start costing less though over the next few years..
Or maybe I just dont know what I'm talkin about..

I've seen other posts about the defective back cover. Maybe there's a problem with mine. It stays on if I don't touch it, but if I recline and the put the back seats forward again, it falls off again no matter how careful I try to do it.
I guess I'll go to the dealer one of these days and complain.

^^ sounds like the clips are out of shape or something. Mine are actually pretty tough to pull off. Just have them compare yours to a new one to see if it is easier to remove.
. A $500 supercharger kit. A supercharger is 100 year old technology. It's nothing more than a fan driven by the motor. Did you know that it costs Toyota less than $1000 to make a 2AZFE engine? You can't tell me that it's more expensive to build a supercharger than an engine.
How many SC's do you think a company that makes them would sell?

2. A plethora of different tail lights. I can't believe no one makes them. Maybe it really is expensive to mold plastic?

First off, you need an engineer to design the mold. That alone isn't cheap. Then you need to send the prints to a mold shop to make the mold. Molds for injection molding are definately not cheap (we are talking hundreds of thousands of dollars here for a single/dual cavity mold).... and that's just for the body (not including any lense inserts, or outer lenses (the red part on OEM tC tails).
Then there is material cost, which isn't too bad... but then again, you need to have a market to sell the stuff to. And generally, a company won't go through the hassle of the above mentioned process unless they a.) have enough people up front to cover most, if not all, the setup/tooling design/mold making/etc costs, and b.) they are obviously out there to make a profit, so that needs to be figured in as well.
I think that with time, companies will develop aftermarket tails for our cars (there is already a headlamp housing available). I just hope that they aren't gawdy or made by APC...
