Default Think I got Water in Engine UPDATE NEED MORE HELP

So it was raining really bad two days back and my CAI filter got really wet and my engine started to sputter....

well i waited about 30mins and turned it on again and it drove normal for a couple of mins then it started to sputter again and then it turned off. I finally get to the side of the road and check the car. The filter is wet to the point where air cant be sucked in so i fear the worse....

I take off the pipe and see a little water so at this point i know there is water in the engine...

I go to pepboys buy a bs filter and spark plugs and replace them and the same thing happens...The car goes on, idles and turns off...i took it to my mech and he took out what little water was in there and it keeps doing the same thing. He says it is the fuel pump that not spitting gas and thats why it turns off...i dont know what do you all thing?????????????????

UPDATE

So I ended up buying a new maf because the org wouldnt work...now the car turns on but then shuts back off like before but this time if you unplug the maf the car stays on.....so at this point i am still having the same problems....any new advice, my family mech is out of ideas i am taking the car home today....

1...spark plugs changed
2...maf is new.....
3...car turns on but shuts back off, however if MAF is disconnected car stays on..weird...help

whenever you fear you might have sucked up water, you should always try to shut off the engine as quick as possible and if not available, call up a friend who would have tools to remove all the spark plugs and disconnect the injectors and turn over the motor, to shoot out any water that might be in the intake system or cylinders...just my two cents =)

Clean that MAF. Unless the intake was totally submerged, you probably didn't get enough water in the engine to brick it. The car can't breathe through a wet filter. If the MAF got fouled by condensation in the intake pipe, it would cause your car to do what you're describing.

^exactly.
and you said your mechanic already cleaned it out as best he could, and the car still has the same symptons.
just get MAF cleaner, should be available at any autoparts store.

Did you reset the ECU after installing the MAF? Could be a brain problem, and it cant read the MAF yet.

Also recommend putting the stock intake and seeing what happens.

I would say get the codes checked, there may be something hiding under the o2 sensor light. Also, have you looked at any of your internals? I had a friend who came really close to hydro-locking his engine, and it bent his rods all to hell. Funny thing is that he did drive for 3 months on piston rods that looked like bananas...
