I'd never buy a Mitsubishi. Everone who I know who has/had one has had big problems of some type or another. While QC problems CAN be turned around, I came across the following info while researching the EVO:

From EvolutionM.net

Mitsubishi is voiding motor and drive train warranties including transmission for any cars that participate in an Sports Car of America (SCCA) event or any other timed event.

It seems that Mitsubishi has set up an automatic web search that looks for registration and results information for any Mitsubishi. They then capture the race results information, match it to vehicle purchase and service records and proactively put the car on "warranty restriction". Those of you with new cars, may want to not list the actual car make or use a screen name.

I bought this car for my son about 2 months ago. The voiding of the motor and drive train warranty is especially puzzling to me as I was completely open with the dealer that sold the car to me, that I was going to allow my son to participate in SCCA events -- even invited the sales person and his manager to come for a ride along. Was the dealer's response to tell me that this would void the warranty on the new car? Nope. His response was "...what a cool way to keep your son from getting in trouble on the streets."

Sure would have appreciated knowing that parking lots and cones would void the warranty on the Evo. I guess although the car is "race inspired", Mitsubishi considers chasing cones at 25 to 60 mph in parking lot to be too much for their "embodying everything a performance enthusiast looks for in a car" model

Because of this, I will never buy a Mitsubishi vehicle.

Who buys their kid a sub-40k car?

anyway, to the point. Ofcourse I'd do it.

The tC is a great car though I'm starting to HATE the roof(who needs it? honestly...if it moves it breaks...and then its glass). Besides the weight, it seems pretty good. Though since your buying a new house its something to think about.

ALL of the mitsu's I owned were very reliable....now Lexus' on the other hand? I will never EVER own another one again.

Thats EXACTLY what I'm saying. That Lexus had all sorts of problems that the Mitsu's NEVER had. Our bimmer, ofcourse, acted like a bimmer should along with everything else.

If you were in OK I could send you a long list of people just dying to get rid of their mitsubishis! Too bad they cant sell them because no one even wants to buy a used one anymore. Out of my dads customers who own them, I think three have had major repairs in the first 5 years (by major, I mean engine replacement, tranny issues, etc). And whats best, is that those three are driven by older women... You dont even want to know how much trouble the people I know tuning them have. Add 10 HP.. decrease engine life by 5 years.... No one will ever convince me to buy one.

As far as lexus.. they are reliable... but WWWAAAAY overpriced. You can nearly by the real BMW for the same price. But then again... out of the people I know who have kept their BMWs more than 5 years, they all have issues galore with them (very sad coming from BMW).

Everyone is going to have an Eclipse soon. Eclipse is the Japanese Mustang. There is the weak underpowered version that everyone and their mom drives, and there's the quick version that accounts for about 10% of the total. Though the performance is better, the association with the other 90% is there.

Did you buy your lexus pre-owned? That might explain it. Ive just never heard of someone hating on a lexus for quality before he..he. But I agree with you about the mitsu. Ive had only 1, but it has not had a single problem at all, and the drive is incredibly comfortable. The tC is great, just not very comfortable over uneven roads. Im looking into better shocks.

They don't make "better" shocks for ridee quality, everything out there will be a harder ride with some sort of lowering. I believe going on airbags would make your ride smooth as butter, but handling would suffer. Don't quote me on that, that's just theory.

Thanks. In that case, Ill just deal with it. Its fine as long as the road is level. I swerve around a lot to avoid bumps and potholes. What do you mean by riding on airbags? Not familiar with that.

They are already having a recall on the 2006 Eclipse. Here is the link at CNN http://money.cnn.com/2005/06/03/Auto...reut/index.htm

Uh!!!! Mitsubishi's fall apart... LITERALLY!
Ex had a turbo Eclipse, the door handle came off-REALLY!!, numerous rattles... The only one MAYBE worth getting is the V6 - BUT it's a V6!!! *Ucky!* At that price, get a real sports car, like a GT Mustang!
No no no... stick to your tC

They made a big deal about bringing out the car weeks earlier than expected because of the "demand". Maybe they should have waited!
