Default For those who've already bought the RS2.0...

I need to know the Out-the-door price for the RS2.0. I want to know the government fees, taxes, and all the other mumbo jumbo. Would it come to less that $21,000?

Mine was-

$22,454.88

Cash Price of Vehicle- $20,248 (Including accessories: metal door sills, security system (was about $900, aftermarket compustar system), floor matts, auto dimming mirror, obx pedals... I think that's all of them)
Vin Etch- $199
Dealer Documentary Service Fee-$35
Sales Tax (9.1%)- $1972.88

After $5000 down, extended warranty, gap coverage, licensing fees, and my finance charge my monthly payments are $331.43.

And I got the best possible current loan rate which was 7.05% (on a 72 month loan).

Sales tax is 8.25% in California, and license and various fees are about 2% of the vehicle sale price. That's where the 10.25% comes from.

I am getting an automatic, so the beginning price will be:

$19,600 + 10% sales tax = $21,560

Dang, that is a lot of money.

Vin Etch --- they etch the vin number on all your windows. It is suppose to be theif deterent.
Chop shop will have harder time selling windows with vin numbers on them.
I didn't get it with my tc.

Cali has different sales taxes in different cities. Where I live, its 7.975%. I've seen sale tax as high as 8.5%, but not 10%. (Unless what 2fast4you said about "in California... license and various fees are about 2% of the vehicle sale price" on top of reg. sales tax is true.) Also, if you get the Extended Warranty, you could add another couple of grand to that total.

vin etching is a ripoff the dealers use to make a quick buck. The vin number is already stamped and etched on parts all throughout the car at the factory.

$18800 + TTL for IL was less than $20K.

You do have a choice on VIN etching. If they do not have the car, you can buy it without it. If it is already etched, they will not replace all the windows for you.

you can buy kits on the internet that will allow you to do the same thing as etch.....for like 20.00.
but my understanding is that etch will pay the equity back to you if your car is stollen and never recovered......

I thought I saw somewhere that the side air bags that come with the RS2.0 and the auto dimming mirror aren't compatible with each other or am I totally wrong?

Or to put it another way, if a dealership offers etch, you know for a fact that they are slimeballs. Go somewhere else.

Thats a completely false and innacurate statement. I have had customers request VIN etch because they felt safer with it and they have had it on previous cars. I know theres some dealerships that pretty much put it on every car cause we get swaps that already have etch on them, but we only do an etch upon customers request for it.
