i drive 35 from san antonio to austin/round rock pretty much all the time and i have my plate in between the passenger seat and center conserole. only got pulled over once by state trooper because he had a trainee with him. i just told him that the screws stripped the holes and i had ordered a bracket online and that it was in the mail. worked for me and i got a warning. glad he didnt catch me speeding since i was going 15+, just hit my ebrake to slow me down without turning on my brake lights.

i know some of them can be d!*cks but i just act polite and say sir to make sure i get on their good side if they have one. if not, there's always the judge.

In Washigton we are supposed to have a front plate but no one cares until you get stopped for another infraction. No Corvette since 1991 has a front plate on it. I do because I have custom plates. My Scion has AMBISHN as if it wants to be better and my Porsche has TRYMEON from the time I was single. I'm going to put the Scion plates on my daughters Taurus and put KICKSAS on my Scion. Stan

To the OP: It's probably not worth their time to pull you over for just for the front plate, but expect them to write you up if you're pulled over for something else.

My first car was a '97 Geo Metro. I bought it very used with only one license plate. Never bothered to deal with the DMV and get another one. The whole year that I had that thing, I never once was hassled for it. And I live in California.

Here's the lesson in this thread:

YMMV!

Seriously... cops are all different. What one may not think is a big deal, another one will be a ***** about. While things vary from state to state, you can basically count on that being a certainty.

If you don't mind the risk of a ticket, don't run the plate - just don't ____ and moan about it if you get a ticket - we won't have any sympathy for you.

Oh I never ask for sympathy when I'm breaking the law, it's certainly my choice. I just plan on doing a 5 state road trip (Dallas, TX to Orlando, FL via Panama City, FL) in December and I will be running BlueBatMobile's front black vinyl cover. I just don't feel like paying for something just to have some ugly-___ white license plate covering it up.

Depending on where and how the $75 plate mover works, I might buy that. It'd be nice to be able to mount it near the ground or in the middle of the lower air dam

Though I am loving one of the previous posts about 4 suction cups and mounting it to the inside-center of my windshield.

I just have to be good until my latest deferred adjudication wears off so I don't incur the wrath of the courts

Screws in like a tow hook.

I would suggest the P-Tuning plate holder. That will work with your tow-hook opening and will still be outside the car, on the front, where it should be. Pricey, sure... but effective. Not to mention it'll be a really clean look.

im in MD and have been pulled over about 3 times... and received tickets from Maryland State Police & United States park police... US park police apparently dont like the plate to be in the front windshield... so I just manned up and bought the Ptuning front mount kit which looks pretty clean and goes right into the front tow hook

Ehhh im in Colorado just like "Stitches" and I don't run a front plate but I havent gotten pulled over for it yet. But I've been thinking about the Ptuning mount because cops here in Colorado are picky so idk.

Front plates are required here (MA) But I refuse to put holes in my bumper. It's ugly and it looks weird. So occasionally when I get stopped for other things (speeding, hot pink license plate lights) they might, and only sometimes mention that i'm missing my front plate. But being a girl and all I just tell them that I got it without it from the dealership, or that daddy will do it for me next week. I've never had any issue's with it.

Buttttt being a girl has it's perks

Don't suppose you can take some photos could ya? I just want to know if it looks stupid with it off to one side or not. Front-on shots and maybe some side shots could work, if you have the time that is.

I was coming back from a show a few months ago and forgot to swap out my plate lights (from pink to white) and in an hour got stopped by 2 (TWO) Statey's and a town cop. Statey's in MA are NOT friendly.

Buuuuuttt, like i said, being a girl has it's perks, didn't get crap from any of them!

yea the ptuning plate idea is nice, but not worth 75$....tat's why i use either my bracket from 808 or just put it in the front windshield; and dont get hassled
