Default Ticking Sound??

I have a 05 tc with a K&N CAI. I have recently been hearing a ticking sound kind of like change getting tossed ina dryer. It is coming from the upper intake pipe around the MAF sensor area. What could it be? when i rev it goes away and then when it returns to idle after it warms up it ticks again. I live in NJ and it is betwen 20-30 everyday.
Thanks

You didn't drop anything into the engine? Nut, bolt or socket? Could be your intake is rubbing against the car and vibrating.. check to see if you have any metal on metal touching. All I can think of.. doesn't sound like the issue I was having.. if you read that at all.

There is no metal on metal rubbing and the intake was never removed and it just started ticking recently.

And your positive you think its from the intake itself or the general area? How many miles do you have?

Thats normal, if it from the intake area. I forget the name of the part but it has to do w/ the vacum system. If it was coming from the the part of the motor where the pulley is then you have a problem like gotti.

I am almost willing to bet its metal on metal.. somewhere.. if your reving and it goes away.. and if its sitting there its making a "change in dryer" ticking.. sounds like you have something tapping on each other.

Does it have anything to do with the cold weather? It started when i starting getting extremly cold. Also it will only tick when the engine is fully warmed up.

Is there a relay or something in that thing.. anyone know? I guess you should put your stock airbox on, then go.

I couldn't tell you for sure.. I would just take off your intake and goto the dealership and have them look at it. Unless of course someone else could chime in and tell you what they think it is.

the ticking sound is from your VSV... (Vacuum Switching Valve) and it is normal.. it's just doing it's job.

You probably never noticed it until you started working and installing things...
