Default Tinting caused power window problems

Hi guys, I just got an 2007 scion tc, and it is giving me a lot of trouble. so the other day, i went to get tinting for my windows. it's 20% all around. after i got the tint, my power windows started making sounds everytime i roll it up and down. i took it back to the dealer for them to look at it and they said it was the tint that caused the problem. i took it back to the tinting place and they said that they way scion tc are built, it's too close to the glass.. so everytime i roll it up and down, it presses against whatever and it makes the sound... does anyone else, with scion tc and tint, have that problem? is the dealer mechanic or the tint guy just bs'ing with me? i dont really know bout cars and stuff, but i bought a brand new car because i ddin't want to stress out about these stuff.. help me!!

well, for one, you should wait a few days for the tint to settle. I have had my tint for over a year and have had ZERO problems. Could be a bad tint job or not waiting long enough for the tint to settle.

waited 5 days for mine to be able to roll down since it was colder when I tinted the car.

No problems at all with the tint.

What exactly does the noise sound like. If it sounds like a crinkling noise it is the tint at the lower bottom end not being applied to the glass properly.

Not to sure what other noises it could be making unless when they applied it the motor got wet from the liquid used during the install but that is not likely.

don't worry about it...you'll get pulled over soon enough to get the fronts taken off anyways.

when u get tint you are supposed to wait 3 day so it dries.. then you can roll them down. so it probably wont make that noise after it dries. my tint is fine

oh man.. i did waited 4 days before rolling it down... i went back to the same place i got my tint from for my last car.. and they did a great job on the last car.. iono if they messed up this one.. and i cant even say anything bout it... how am i going to fix this? the tint guy said he can take it off, but he's not gonna refund... or if i wanna leave it on, just dont roll down the window.. wth eh........... not roll down window!??

i dont know how to explain the sound.. it usually makes the sound when i roll up/down the window near midway.. it sounds like there's something holding it back from rolling up and down smoothly.. man this sucks.... any advice?

oh, also, when i apply lotion (like the tint guy suggested), it goes up and down smoothly... except the lotion effect does not last that long, so after a day or two, the sound comes back =/

I say to make him redo it, otherwise tell him you'll call the Better Business Bureau. That is like the freakin' magic word to small business owners.

check the rubber molding inside. Same thing happened to me. Installer put back the molding but the rubber was creasing against the window.

i dont know that much abotu cars.. but my friend said the reason lotion works is because the tint is too thick, so you have to use lotion to lubricate it... the dealer said it's some chemical in the tint that's causing it to stick.. so i cant rol it up or down smoothly.. and i should change the tint.. the guy at the tint shop said he only have that one kind of tint.. so i didnt know what to say to that..

so do you guys think it's the tint? some people said it could be the weather stripping.. that the tint guys didnt put it on right or whatever.. help!

try this... take the door panel off and roll the window up and down... you might find what it is that way....

You shouldn't be having any problems at all. I have TWO layers of tint on my windows and I have never had a problem what so ever.
