This is an entertaining thread... I'm just restating the obvious here... but I know alot of people are not bored at work and will read all 10 pages. (By the way that website with the HIGH performance parts had me in tears...)

I just want to add... since these cars are mass produced wouldn't the speeds not vary on the tC. I have a 5 speed myself... The speed cutoff is due to a few things... two are for certain, the fuel cutoff and the gear ratio. I don't remember where mine cut but it was not over 130... Period.

And honestly... the only reason i'm disappointed and want a higher top speed or a 6th gear is because I'm an RSX Type-S hater. (I really enjoyed driving that car...)

My friends RSX type-s was spec'd out (turbo n werks) and Apparently he wrecked it at 160... I don't doubt it because I know he was hospitalized, (we work at the same hospital), he was drunk though so I can't take his word on the top speed. He lost control, tapped someone and rolled his car a few times. Lucky to be alive, broke two vertebrae... See driving fast is stupid period, and so is DUI...

It's neither here nor there... it'd be nice to know its there (6th gear), and we would get alot better gas mileage i think.

Question... do you think a celica gt-s transmission would be compatible by any chance?

And for kicks... if you read the thread about the ClubRSX forum spanking a tC, someone called the tC and celi-camary... well if it really is that combo... if you combine celica and camary... you get celary... we drive celary.

I didn't think so, thanks for the input though, it was just food for thought... What happened to the days when you could just swap parts like Honda/Acura used to do...

Yep, RSX-S's hit fuel cutoff at about 180 according to gear ratio calculations. A bit higher if the fuel cutoff is moved.

Of course it would take a lot of power though. A stock one would be hard pressed to break 150, and that's with quite a bit of road.

With my mods I can hit 140 fairly quick and then once I have to hit 6th it's quite a bit slower. I quit at about 143 or so because I ran out of road. Anyone that wants to say I'm crazy and endangering lives, I can take pics of the road I use to prove my point. It's a lonely long straight road. Leads out to a power plant which is about 1.5-2 miles off of the road that I use.

Yea, my friend had a hook up at the dealership and a performance shop, he had a turbo and so much done... but I was overseas when he had an RSX... it was a really nice ride, I saw pics, before and after... The Type-S is sooo nice.
