Default Toyota wants my tC?

Not sure if anyone else got called, but a Toyota dealership called me and told me that they would like to buy my tC from me for 110% of its KBB value and can give me a great deal on one of their cars. I rejected but I find it funny that they are buying back older tC's cause the new ones look way to boxy. I live in Seattle if anyone is curious.

Those situations are rarely worth it... They just need certified pre-owned tCs is all.

Yeah, there is no way I am giving my tC away that I have had for like 3 months for another car. I paid like $13000 for the car (great deal btw, 15k miles, they took the car for 15k service and covered that, and cleaned up a few problems with the car such as scratches). I quickly did a KBB suggested retail and its at around $14,400, but tradein is like 10-11k.

This is not unheard of. This is a way for dealerships to get you in and buy your car from you while at the same time sell you a car off their lot.

Its a win win situation for them because they get to sell a new car and then sell your car for more than what they paid you. Dealerships make more money on used cars then they do on new cars.

Well, oh well. I went there after I purchased my car and asked if they could put any sort of warranty on it. They stated no because i didnt buy the car from them. Now they are asking to buy my car.

you can buy a warranty from any dealers, you just need to have the car inspected before they sell you one.

Well, they were being weird about it and were spotting everything wrong with the car and saying "dont buy it from them". I think a big part of this is because the 2nd gen models are ugly IMHO. The 1st gen have a more smooth design while the 2nd gen are all edged and look more like an xB or something.

^ Agreed. You're almost guaranteed to get more through a private sale anyway.

Check the fine print. Most of those offers I've seen offer to pay full sales price, minus x cents per mile on the odometer, or KBB value, minus the cost to replace worn items like teres, glass, dents, etc. Once you do the calculations, it comes out under blue book. Not sure on the demand for tC's, but with my xB I plan to private-party sale, I'm pretty sure I can get more than what a trade-in would be.

Yeah, they can be dirty. I remember when I was younger I had all these games I wanted to trade in that I had for my gameboy advance. I wrote down "I want $20 for this game, $30 for this" and went to the store with my dad to get money for them. The guy grabbed them and were like "OK 50 cents for this one and 3 dollars for this one". I gave the 3 dollar one cause I did not care and I came back a few days later and they were selling the game for at least $10.

I took my tC in to get some problems worked out back in 2008. They saw how clean my car was ever since they've been constantly sending me letters for me to trade in my car and like you said they'd give me a good deal on a new car with the trade in. I knew they just wanted to make profit off my car, so i just never did it. The letters stopped after I got into a minor accident. LOL
