I wonder if the thing that works on the BOX might work on th TC. Breaking it up into little pieces then shaking them out the bulb hole :?

 

Ahhhhhh sorry guys I just got a chance to try it today. Doesn't work i tried to XB way breaking it up, the orange plastic will not crack worth ____. I used a big chizle small chizle big flat head screw driver small flat head screw driver. and it wouldnt crack i was hitting it hard too, i thought the screw driver was gonna fly threw the housing lucky i didnt scratch main headlight housing the orange part is scratched a bunch but you cant really tell unless u get up on it, BTW. i noticed that behind the orange part is just black housing not silver,

 

dang so scurry to do to a new car........atleast for me......congrats on the DIY though.......

 

just bake the headlights.

preheat your oven to 300 degrees.......turn it off
place the headlights inside the oven on a folded towel, for 15 mins
take em out, and pull the headlights apart.
if the adhesive is not soft enough yet, just redo the first steps again.
then to reseal, repeat steps one and two, then squeeze the pieces back together

I did this on my Rolla to make the housing black. The don't fog up, and look stock except for the color and lack of a reflector. Pics of my headlights can be seen in my sig link

Hmmmm i dunno about oven modding them if they got messed up replacement cost would be $$$ maybe if i can pick up some headlights from a recked tc and try it on those

i emailed partznet and toyotaparts4u and both game me quote of around 140 one lamp. So $290 shipped, not terribly expensive

Very nice write up. Everyone looking for the right way to do HID should refer to your page to figure out how to open the lights and put real HIDs in.

I heard that replacing both assemblies would only be $300... hopefully you wouldnt need to, but I dont think you should worry about experimenting on these
