Default Upgrades: Can I get better deal?

Dealership wants to charge me 800 bux to lower my ride...using the trd springs. He said it includes a front end alignment as well.

Also, 1500 for the 18"EMU's....anyone know if this is a good deal, or should i look to do my own wheels.

And, 500 bux for the trd muffler. Everything here includes installation.

And LASTLY, can anyone reccommend a wide body kit (I dont like the factory one) and how much I can expect to pay for the painting and installation of the widebody kit. Thanks in advance guys, and gals.

I pick it up at end of the month.....need to tell him by Monday my decision on the wheels and the lowering.

Spring install took me 2 hours in the driveway with rented spring compressors (I'm not a mechanic), so $800 is just funny. 4 wheel alignment is about $70 on average from tire shops.

You can buy a TRD muffler from http://www.trdsparks.com for $365 + shipping, install takes about 20 minutes (15 of which is struggling with rubber hangers).

Don't know who the EMUs are, so can't say anything. Not a fan of bodykits also, so no advice here either.

It seems much more logical to me to buy the parts from a wholesaler, the most reputable and used here being trdsparks.com and scionpartspeople.com, than to pay the outrageous prices that the dealer charges.

Case in point: TRD Muffler. Cost with installation at dealer: $525. Cost of exact same muffler with shipping from Scionpartspeople.com: $370.05. Mine is on the way, and since it's a simple (two bolts and three hangers) install, I'm going to save myself over $150.

After that, we'll see if I'm brave enough to attempt the spring install.

*EDIT* Oh, and the Ground Effects Kit from the dealer technically is not a widebody kit, but an all-around lip kit. Do a search for widebody kits and you'll find a couple pictures on the board.

I purchased some scion parts off of ebay, they were coming from other scion dealerships, shipment plus cost came in way lower than the local. Just a thought.

For the price to pay... no way should you get the dealer to install them.... it's WAY cheaper to have a local performance place install and have another local alignment place do it.... You'll save hundreds if you install these parts yourself instead of a dealer.

I installed every aftermarket part on my car, which is a big list, and saved myself thousands...

Thanks for the tips guys. Im not really much of a "gearhead", and didnt know exactly how much I was getting nailed for. The benefit of getting the dealer to do it is financing it in.....instead of out of pocket. But, I guess I could piece it together a bit at a time....either way, thanks for all the information. Im new here, and you guys are really helpful. Looking forward to being a part of the community.
