Default valve cover painting

After searching and reading threads on this, I found everyone had different ways of painting their covers, so.....

Is it necessary to bake the valve cover after painting it and if so how would I go about doing this?
Do you need to use adhesion promoter or is sanding it good enough to get the paint to stick?

Thanks :D

it would be a good idea to clean the surface really good and spray high temp primer, sand that and spray with high temp paint. that way it will last longer and wont crack or peel. And a coat of high temp clear wont hurt it either to give it shine. If you want to bake it (the metal valve cover not the plastic cover)put it in your oven. and once your done baking let it sit over night untill you put it back on the car.

I kind of recommend against baking it in your home oven, because the paint will degass into your house, and potentially do bad things to you. You can heatcure the high-temp paint with a heatgun or propane torch.
