I recently ordered a grill from VRD and paid through the website, and today i got a phone call that someone has fraudulently charged like $2300.00 on my debit card!!
i think it may have been from the VRD site because everything else i've paid for has been paypal!! so VRD, if ur site is insecure, u should secure it!!!

 

I jsut wnet through their checkout proces s(didn't provide a credit card) and the page that asks for your CC info is in fact NOT secured.

While this is unfortunate for them, always look for the little lock in the lower right hand corner of IE to be certain you aren't transmitting sensitive information out for the whole Internet to see, and thanks for warning us!

A few months ago someone from China hacked my Paypal account and charged like $8 to some online gamining website. Maybe something similar happened to you.

 

id say its more unfortunate for me than it is for them.....because my bank account is frozen until this all gets hashed out! And just so there's no confusion, this is not a hate thread about VRD, its just a warning and i want everyone to know that if u want to deal with VRD, i highly recommend you contact them personally and pay them through paypal.

 

Dude, rule number one: never pay online with a debit card. A debit card gives criminals a direct route to your funds, whereas a credit card gives you a line of defense so that you won't be out any real money if you have a dispute.

 

loool paypal is the worst man.. you thin it was because of the vrd site.. u might be WRONG.. someone charged my brother's paypal from europe for like $300

 

well im not out of money, cuz i have fraud protection, i just can't use the money in my account right now, which isn't very much. im a server ina restaurant, so all i ahve is cash

 

Yeah it could be PayPal too. Their security sucks and their policies suck. Another rule is to never link your bank account to your PayPal account, because theives and scammers just love when you do that.

 

VRD is definitely an unsecured site, which i didn't know at the time....i trust paypal over an unsecured site any day

 

Anyone heard about this huge credit card fraud scam on the news lately? Maybe it has a link with that? I still lean toward Paypal though.

 

look at the address of the page that is asking for your information.

the hyper text transfer protocal acronym should end with an "S"

like this "https://"

if it doesnt look like that, dont ever type sensitive information like passwords and cc numbers.

 

^^^only thing i heard yesterday that some ppl was driving around in a car with a laptop and they were looking for other ppl with wireless laptop and they hacked it.... and they stolen all your info.. etc..

its good near hotspots like starbucks..

but i think they got caught....

You don't need to setup direct deposit. You can take a check from PayPal whenever you need to withdraw funds. Also, don't keep a lot of money in limbo in your PayPal account. Money in your PayPal account is not safe. Funds are only safe in an unlinked bank account.

Like someone said above, its better to use a credit card online than a debit card because it gives you better security. And also, I would recommend you get a spyware software and a good firewall for your computer. It is possible to hack in to someones computer and get all the info you need without the person knowing what is going on. They could be using something called Key loggers, which records everything you type. Another way is hackers get info is they search for ports which your computer sends out and in and they look for a easy way into your system. A good way of knowing is when your computer is acting really really slow when normaly its fast. There is a website where they have this software that tells you if your system is leaking info. I will see if I find it.
