warranty repairs
For any of y'all who have taken your car in for warranty work, how long did the dealership take to look it over and fix the problem??
I took mine in Tuesday afternoon to have the spoiler and hatch/roof creaking looked at. It's now Thursday afternoon and I haven't heard a peep out of them except when I called Wednesday AM to see if I was going to be able to drive to school or not

WOW! it shouldnt take that long. Just call them up and ask what's going on. My warranty work for checking out the A/C and moonroof creak, and floor mat replacement...took all about 4 - 5 hours. They called me and i picked it up, everything perfect. I would just call them and say HEY WTH!!
At least it's done though. I cannot stress this enough but please please! do a once over before you leave the dealership, to just make sure everything was done right and they didnt screw something else up.
I just picked it up. Looks like everything is in order but I'm not too happy with how they solved my spoiler issue.
They said the "buffer tape" underneath was coming out, so instead of replacing it they just cut it flush with the spoiler. The guy said last night on the phone that it was easier to do that than to take it off and replace it. Jeez, I could have done that myself.
Here is the thread with a pic of what it looked like before it got worse :

My concern now is if that now if there is a gap where this tape once was, will that make the spoiler loose after 1k miles or so? Anyway, I'm keeping my paperwork to prove that they decided to cut it off instead of replacing, not moi.
As for the hatch/roof rattle, they just pulled the TSB for the moonroof bolt tightening. The hatch still rattles, but I was more concerned with my roof breaking into a billion pieces.
But why 2 full days to do this?

Each dealership has it's own pace and it's own methods of doing things.
So time is relitive to which dealership you hit.
Elmhurst Scion out by me, they keep me informed, they do things promptly,
and they are just as meticulous as I am. When I drop it off, we do a walk around
and I have them note every scratch that on the box (VERY few) and note how
perfect the wheels are, and insist that they DON"T wash it. My car is HAND WASH
only! I also do a full walk around with them when I pick it up.
I got door dings and dash scratches when my sunroof was done (dealership farmed out
the work of course), and they took care of the door dings without a second thought.
I drove my tC to the dealership cause i had issues with the battery. It was a last minute appointment and my frist time at that specific dealer. They told me it'd take 1hr from the time they take in the car to see whats wrong with it. abotu 40 minutes later they told me they were done. They ran all their tests and fixed the issue. I was a lil shocked it took so little time considering they were slammed with work.
Now for TSB's I wouldn't be surprised if they took the whole day...but thats the most I've ever gone w/o a car. From what my bro-in-law told me one time (worked at a different dealer as a mechanic), he said they usually go for paying customers first. If they can hold off on warrenty work, they will cause they're not making money off of it.
