Default Warranty?? They will only replace ONE tire....

Well I took my tC into the dealer because I have EXTREMELY bad wear on my left front tire. The outside water grove is there but inside isnt. Well they said they couldnt get it on the alignment machine because of my body kit and wanted $85 to take the front bumper off. I took it off myself.

They find it needed aligned and 2 degrees of camber and 2 degrees of toe. (i think thats what he said). They then told me its all better. I said what about my tires with only 10,000 les on them. So they ordered one tire. How can they replace only one tire on a drive axle? Now when its time for new tires I will always be off with buying sets. The car is going to pull because of tread differences.

They told me they couldnt do anything becuase it was up to toyota. WHO SHOULD I CALL TO GET MY POINT ACROSS??What do you think I should do?

(sorry for the long post)

Um...I work at Sam's Club and our TMA has the same policy as do 99% of all tire dealers. They only get credit on the tires that have problems. If they send a good tire back they will get charged back. As for the bumper, is it stock? If so, is your vehicle lowered? If that wasn't the issue, then they are pretty crappy since they designed the vehicle.

Yeah I have a full body kit. But uses all the same bolts as stock. I took it off infront of them in 7 minutes. They quoted me and hour to remove it.

About the only replacing one. Its not my fault they had it miss aligned, why should I suffer? Thats what i dont understand.

Who put your TRDs on? If not the dealer did you go have it aligned afterward? If you installed them yourself and did not have it aligned you will get minimal help warranty wise. If they installed the springs then they should pay. And personally if my dealer installed springs, did not align the car and the tires wore that way I would be on thier @$$ to replace both front tires due to thier lack of competence when putting on the springs. If it was thier fault, you should not have to pay in the sense that you will have two tires wearing out of sync.

As for removing the bumper, most dealers charge a minimum shop time of one hour for work. Since the rest fell under warranty, the bumper was something they would make you pay for to remove. I would guess they are just charging the minimum shop time (which I hate.. the shop in my family has never charged a minimum shop time.. and rarely charged anything for a job that takes less than 15 minutes to complete).

They put the TRD Springs And TRD struts on. I asked them the other day if they aligned them back when I got the car and they said yes.

I am thinking of calling toyota and having them look into it.

I talked to the service depertment manager. he is the one I had to talk to just to get one replaced. he told me if wasnt up to him and that was all toyota would replace. I just dont understand how I should have to deel with a problem caused by them. I realize the right front isnt worn, but due to the left being worn it throws the whole thing off. What happens in 10,000 miles when I need new tires? Do I just buy 3? What happens when the car is pulling because of tread differences?

the manager should have stepped up and contacted his regional rep
i understand where your coming from as a customer, and toyota will only cover
the damaged tire, but how much is the tread difference?? whats the other tire in the front looking like??
if tis not a huge difference, they wouldn't try and get it replaced
but if there is a significant difference between the 2 treads, i think they should
replace 2, not just 1. but thats just me

10,000 miles worth of use. Thats a pretty good amount of tread on 20,000 mile tires.

If you will be buying new tires in 10k miles anyway, then buy 4. I mean, you would have to buy them even if nothing ever happened, so it makes no difference to you. In the mean time, rotate your back tires to the front and your fronts (the two different ones) to the back. They won't pull back there like they would up front. Then, in 5k miles when you have to rotate again, just rotate left<-->right to finish out your last 5k miles.

(weird. I can post this, but when I try to post a quote, it keeps telling me "page cannot be displayed".)
