warrenty question and initial mods
Ordering a superwhite 5 speed sometime next month. The first things I want to upgrade are: springs, 18" wheets, exhaust. Thanks for input on any of the following questions:
Questions:
1.) If I dont use Scion factory upgrades, will my upgrades void the warrenty in any way? Or which factory upgrades would you recommend?
2.) I want to get sitting low on 18" or 17" wheels. What is the best spring/wheel combination to get a very low high performance look?
3.) Do Scions have skid plates? If not, recommend one?

there's a search button at the top of the page that would help you with everything youve just asked.
If your non-scion part is the cause of something that fails, then yes, the warranty is void. Scion will have to prove that your aftermarket part caused the problem.
There are many spring and wheel combos.
What do you mean by "skid plate"?

^^ The Warranty is not actually "void". If something non-OEM causes a problem, the warranty will not cover the repairs of that particular problem. The warranty is still intact - they just don't pay the part that was because of something else.
Example... if you put new (lowering) springs on and it causes your shocks to blow... Scion will not cover the replacement of the shocks under warranty - because most people could determine it was at the fault of the non-OEM springs. Your "warranty" is unchanged. They just don't cover those repairs.

There are a lot of options for springs. And it depends on how much you want to spend. You could easily spend $150-$200 on a set of springs that will give you the look you want (Hotchkis, Tein S-Techs, etc)... but you MIGHT have to worry about your shocks in the long run. If you have the money - drop $800-$1000+ on a set of coilovers and have the adjustability as well.
Skid plates? For the bottom of the car? No... not only do they not have one, but I'm fairly certain no one makes one. I suppose if you really needed one, you could have someone fab one for you, but I don't know why you'd want it.
Check out the Suspension Forum for more info though... you can browse there and find a LOT of info on springs and coilovers, etc. There's even a stickied thread for pics of lowered tCs.
