18s on xA..
Hi, I've been reading the forums for a while and finally got a username, so Hi. I have a few questions about some mods that I've been planning. Firstly, I was thinking about going with 17s for the longest time, but now I'm really leaning towards 18s. I really like the style of the 5zigen hyper's, or pretty much anything with that 5 spoke, star, look. I'm still undecided on which rims exactly, does anyone know of any star looking rims that they'd like to recommend? Also, what would be the proper tire size to go with 18s? You know, something that isn't going to rub when the wheels are turned completely one way or the other. I am completely clueless when it comes to cars, my xA is my first and I'm still learning all of this stuff. Finally, is there any way to change the super ugly stock automatic shifter? That tall, ugly shifter is the single thing that I hate on my xA, everything else I love. Please help me out.
Thanks a lot
Travis

hi travis, I have 215 40 17's wanli's on benno rims...I believe it's a 42 degree offset....as soon as I added the wider tires the ride got smoother the gold line springs look great but I still wish it was lower but heck you can't cut the rears due to coil design...anyway once it's lower the ride gets real tight still smooth but tighter, you really got to watch the pot holes.
as far as 18's there should be no problem....I thinking of selling my 17's and going with 18's too...

Unfortunately, the 5Zigen Hypers are not avl in a 4x100 bolt pattern, but if you are looking for a similar 5-spoke wheel, the 5ZR Copse is a viable alternative that can be had in a fitment that will work on the Scion. Price on those wheels is really good too. Check out www.5zigenusa.com

I'm running 18x8 +38 in the front with 225/35-18 Toyo Proxes T1-S. Lock to lock, there is no rubbing at all.
18x9 on the other hand....yeah, those ones rub. However, hopefully not for that much longer.
