Default Weapon R- Ignition Equalizer/ Engine Dampener

Hey, I just got the down payment ready for the tC so hopefully within a week or so I will be buying the beast … But for now I just need to be schooled on her!

Searching through ebay and such I found a few neat mods… Both Weapon R products…

Ignition Equalizer… Anyone had any experience with this product? Does it really work or does is it just a butt dyno trick??

Also the Engine Dampener… Same questions as above…Does this product at all harm the engine? It tugs allot on the head which worries me, it might crack the side where its bolted on don’t you think?

dont get the weapon-r etd. ingalls makes a slightly better one IMO. 95% or so of people on here that have an ETD (including myself) have the ingalls. The weapon-r has had problems in the past, I don't know how they are these days, but nobody on here would go near it for a while b/c of the problems.

No issues with it. Works well. Safe for the car. Reduces wheel hop. A nice overall product and actually protects the suspension. ENJOY!

I wouldn't bother with the engine dampener unless you wanna take it to the track( the car won't seem as smooth). And if you wanna do a ground kit, there is a thread that shows you how to do it your self. Save your money for other things.

I actually disagree with that. The etd may add some cabin noise, but it actually makes the car drive much smoother. It makes downshifting feel great. There are several settings on the device to make it more/less stiff. The more stiff settings are really meant for the track and practically make the car shake when idling. The less stiff settings are designed for street use and really aid in having the hp/torque reach the wheels rather than losing the power in the engine movement. Paired with a nice set of tires, even on a less stiff setting, it becomes increasingly difficult to get the wheels to hop b/c the engines movement is restricted and more of the power is getting down to the wheels.

It is truly a great performance product. I'd bet that if a stock car were dyno'ed with and without the etd, more torque would read with the unit in place. One way or another, the lack of engine movement makes the ride much less jerky when pushing the car hard
