The comments about copyrights are correct. The second you create something like a picture or a document it is copyrighted. You dont necesarrilly have to register that copyright for it to be binding. I talked to an intellectual property attorney at our company about that about a year ago. They cant make money off of your picture as thier own. Technically, making a copy of a comic strip for your cube wall is in violation of copyright law if they wanted to press the issue, even if you dont sell it or give it out. Making one copy of a newspaper article for yourself is even in violation if you want to get strict about it.

Wow, yea, that's pretty messed up... but it seems like so many people here have been jipped like that.

I myself do use pics from here once in a while, but never for commerical purposes... and I also always link back to the profile of the person and give them credit! I've used some of Yanki's pics before (on other forums, not selling anything), but I always link back

pics pulled from cardomain are marked with the website info, and if you can prove tehy were pulled from cardomain, its covered by the disclaimer on the front of the webpage that "no picture may be used without the consent of the owner" so cardomain your covered form someone using your car for personal gain.

As for the guy using your car for promotion of a bodykit.... you legally have the right to file against him and have the picture removed. It is your property, and he is exploiting the fact that it is a petty crime that costs you more money then its worth to do anything about.

If you really wanna screw up someones day with this, watermark your photos so it makes it very hard to forge them as being your own, and report his site to the BBB for using pictures without permission to promote his products.

Your car is no different from a photographer taking a picture of a model. Once he takes that picture, its his property to dispense as he sees fit, and if someone illegally takes that picture from him, in any way, the original photographer has the right to persue legal action.

Do what you feel is right. but if your willing to loose some money to go after this _______, Better Busniess Bureau and a lawyer will take care of this problem for you

VA also SELLS a product catalog for $10. You may want to get a copy to verify if they are using any stolen photos in their catalog, and directly receiving money. Just a thought.

Sucks they are being that way about taking your pics down, maybe you could bluff a lawsuit at them and see if they budge if all else fails.

it is a tough thing to protect picture property rights on the web........... I think it is pretty lame they are using pictures of other peoples vehicals to promote their product................man it sure would be nice if the company at least contacted you and asked first though.............Scion seems to be a small comunity so they will probably not get a lot of business after this..........

Well like i said, he knows nobody wants to press legal action for using those pictures. He will continue to do so until a court order tells him not to. Someones gotta bite the bullet on this. Or he will keep on going. Might be wise to just call a lawyer or a lawyer you know and ask him the legality of what hes doing. See if there is a case or not.
