First...I must say that I really enjoyed my time here on Scionlife forums. I have been a more of a "lurker" rather than a "poster" BUT I was always very appreciative of the level of knowledge and effort that some of you put into your cars.

I basically found a car that I liked better, and considering the fact that I was about to go all-out FI...I decided to put the 6 grand I had saved into a better platform for mods. I was going with ZPI stage 1 after DAYS of research. (rythmsmoke, I have read almost every post you have written... :D ) More about a stage 1 setup in a few moments....

So after many hours of deliberation....I bought an 05 350z.

My impressions vs the TC
1. It sounds really nice engine/exhaust...The sound-system does not sound so nice.
2. RWD is awesome....RWD in the rain=me going 35mph everywhere
3. More power on tap N/A...Bad gas mileage due to "having fun"
4. Responds very well to F/I...Can anyone say BROKE
5. Exhaust sounds sweet...1200 for a new one.. HOLY $!
6. People stare...I am now the object of redneck hate crimes and random car vandalism.
7. Back seat...HA! (I will say that I hated the TC's trunk space, but I had the backseats down most of the time.
8. Insurance went up $100 a year...I am 26 though.
9. Factory wheels suck...BUT I can't roll on 3000 wheels like most of the 350z community does.
10. 350z fourm I am on < Scionlife.

NOW onto the part that will make some of you feel all warm inside.


I was driving the other day and ran into a turboed TC. I got really excited because I wanted a chance to see what one is capable of in real life.

I was not disappointed.

We raced 3 times: Twice from second gear and once from a dig. I beat him bad from a dig, but he had NOOO traction whatsoever...we also shut down soon due to traffic. When we went from a roll....he just walked away from me like I was sitting still.
I met up with him at a gas station afterward and I think he was expecting me to whine and make excuses...or be an a$$ like some of the 350z owners I have met...but I jumped out and ran over ( I think he thought I wanted to fight him..lol) THEN I explained my story...I ended up making a new friend. I rode in his car and had a BLAST...Guess what he had under the hood??? ZPI stage 1

I ALMOST regretted my decision..that turbo sounds so sweet and the power is undeniable.

The reason I am saying all this is that I MISS this fourm, as the new one I have moved too is good, but NOT as good as Scionlife.

Aww how sad....lol...I hear that they have Zero rear visabilty???...bad Blind spots?...
why didint u get an 07??....the 07 has a New engine and hood and have the LED tails and HID's!...
Thats cool...U should of Saved more got the NISMO 350z or the Weld 350z....Then everybody would be Star'in etc...lol....

Well, I went with this one since it was my favorite color (silverstone). Also, it was bought from my Uncle who owns a car dealership...so I got it for wholesale (the only way I could afford it). It came with a quaife LSD...BONUS. I upgraded the HIDs as soon as I got it 6000k...my favorite. I really want the new 06+ Headlights since the new design is awesome...BUT they are really expensive. As far as the blind spots and visibility, it isn't that bad. Pics are coming as soon as I get home, as I am incognito posting at work.

 

well sorry to hear you leave but I just rode in my friend 05 350Z and holy ____ that thing is fast as f**k.
It was a good trade IMO except for the insurance and gas mileage but good luck to ya man

 

My dad has the 35th anniversary 350Z. Its soo nice. He has the Veilside V3 body kit for it as well as the Nismo wing but has yet to get it all painted and put on. I think hes waiting on the wheels and Seibon VT style CF hood. Once he gets all that its all goin on.

I love the 35th anniversary 18' wheels... Wow, it sounds like your dad is a pretty cool cat! I may be going to ZDAYZ in NC, but I guess that is too far for you guys to travel. I will check out your link as soon as I get home since my work server is blocking it for some odd reason...grrr

 

Silverstone is my favorite Z color. My old roommate has an 05. Very nice performance for a fairly reasonable price.

 

100 more in insurance isnt a bad jump at all imo, what kinda milage you getting?

 

100 more a year? That ain't ____...that's a real good deal. 350z is a nice car so congrats...

How many miles was on it when you bought it? Is it a 5 speed or auto?

Are the forums you speak of, my350z?

Oohhh I hope it's not a five speed, since they should be 6speed.

 

A guy I work with just traded his Maxima for an '07 ragtop Z. It's "frost" sumthin-er-other with a black top and interior. Took it out for a spin at lunch the other day. I always wanted a Z ( back to the 240 days ) Now I'm convinced I have to own one some day. His wife traded in her Camry for an '07 Murano a few weeks back. The only thing he wishes they had stuck in the Z is the new CVT tranny.

I am averaging about 24 mpg, but I am driving...um more spirited than normal.

It had 16500 miles on it when I got it.

I payed 4500 difference between it and my Scion TC.

It is a 6speed
