Well at least I have an excuse to buy a bodykit.......
So here is the story....
I am walking out of work today and remote start my car as I turn the corner.....I look right to check the street for uncoming traffic and look back left at my car and it's crossing the street....
Yup thats right....crossing the street on its own.....
(I was actually laughing after I made sure that what I has saw really happened...because it was such a random event)
I guess this morning when I got to work I forgot to put it in neutral (5-spd...and I was running late).....
I feel real dumb
but at least I have an excuse to buy a bodykit now....check out the pictures....at least no one was hurt....just my front bumper.......

I am sorry to hear about your accident, but that is REALLY funny....at least you have a good attitude about it.
Hope everything works out well.
The damage wasn't that bad. And i wouldnt be laughing i would be ____ed at myself, for installing remote start on a 5 speed, beacuse who knowsssssss how many time you will "accidently" forget to put it in nuteral. That's also why they dont recommend you install remote start on a 5 speed manual tranny. So OH WELL! just be glad there was no oncoming traffic that would have taken out your tC. That would have really sucked!
Well yes...I can understand all you people from warm climates saying remote starts in manuals are stupid...but seriously....try living in a place that gets to -30 outside. You'll change your tune REALLY quick.
I can uderstand you want the inside of the car warm for when you get in it....but if you were thinking of doing the remote start in the first place i would have opted for the automatic tC, and if i wanted the manual still...i would just deal with the cold, at least that's not going to cost me a new bumper.
good additude about the whole thing. luckily there was no one hurt. there is nothing wrong w/ having an auto start on a manual. most auto starts have a safety feauture that won't start the car unless it's in neautral for manual trannys.
lol, sorry couldnt help but laugh...I got a remote start on my 5speed as well..LOL...but one thing about me is that I never put my car into gear anyways, always on nutrual with e-breakes....LOL love the pictures and discriptions though...

But really....I dunno if you understand how cold our cold is...it's not winter jackets when it's 50 degrees out...that's shorts weather. I'm talking the kind of weather where if you throw boiling water into the air none of it will hit the ground.
Anyway...yeah, I thought that was pretty funny....good that no one got hurt...bad that it happened. I've never parked my tC in gear
OK! Coming form a car audio shop guy....
1) There is no such thing as a neutral switch. I dont know where u heard that? A car's manual transmission doesnt send a signal (12v or ground out) to anything when its in neutral.) It does have a parking brake switch, but your car will still move forward with it up (try taking off with the ebrake up). Now the only thing you can possibly do is hook up some kind fo relay system to the speed sensing wire and see if you can have an auto shut off if the car is going above 1mph or something amongst those lines. As to the products that used to be made for manual remote starts. They dont work that well, breka, crack, sometimes dont start the car, are a PITA to install, not worth the trouble and etc. Basically they dont work.
2) As to having remote starts on a manual, they are illegal in most states. But if you arent dumb you can get one. I had one on my previous 2 cars, both manuals, for 2+ years now. Follow some simple rules. Leave your car in neutral alawys, ebrake up. And then if anyone else drives the car before you drive it, DONT autostart it. Plain and simple, no problem getting remote start on manuals. i plan on getting it on my tC soon, with the factory key/key fob.

WOW! ok i guess that is cold. But oh well it's ok to laugh since no one got hurt...THANK GOD! but oh well at least the damage wasn't bad...i think the flower pot was more hurt HA! tC's are built tough LOL. Wish you had a video of that, now that would be comedy..as long as the end result was just the flower pot getting hit.
I was looking at an automatic xB because I wanted remote
start. I can't find a single shop out here that will install
remote start on my manual xB. I just couldn't stand the idea
of an automatic....
I'd still like it though. Having the motor warmed up without
having to run outside would really be nice on those sub-zero
days...
