^ yeah thats true talking them down price but I think its still a safe bet the Cobalt SS will priced higher then the tC and will probably be built better. No one knows for sure though since the Cobalts not out yet. I just know I cant wait to get rid of my grand am for the tC., we'll see what happens though.

lots of cars compete with the tc. none are better. the mazda3 is deffinately a comptetitor, and considering the tc is available with a trd supercharger that supposedly costs 4k, i should say the nissan sentra se-r, dodge srt-4, vw gti, mitsubishi lancer ralliart, saturn ion redline, and the upcoming chevy cabolt ss supercharged all compete with with the tc.

To say that none are better is foolish. The tC is a great car, but isn't the end-all-be-all of compact vehicles.

hear goes all i have to say about this post.... your taking a car like the tC, and putting it up against a car that's real intention is to rival the srt-4, mitsu evo, sti, etc..... the tC is not a sport compact fly your ___ from zero to 100 in less than 8 seconds.... it might be capable of making numbers as such with a bunch of work, but that wasn't it's original intentions from the showroom floor.... the tC isn't designed to beat these cars outta the dealerships.... it's intended to make another alternative to civics AND accords on the streets... to a tuner's mind, the tC has a bunch of potential... to an idiot's mind, the tC is the fatest bestest and coolest thing out right now... for those of you who have one, you know what they ride/drive/handling like... for thsoe of you who dont have one, please kindly STFU and save your opinionated posts for other forums.... possibly concerning the new and improved chevy cobalt.... (decent sport compact, just not right type of comparision) for all your competetitors, stick to reading the magazines for tC's competition..... car and driver's got a nice article out bout the tC....

From what I've heard, Cobalt SS will have 200hp. So will the s/c tC. With all the standard features, quality, and a lower price, I think the tC is much better. I definitely agree, though, that the Mazda3 is the tCs stiffest competition.

- 205 HP
- Lower price is dependent on final pricing of the Cobalt SS Supercharged and the TRD supercharger
- Standard features is dependent on final specs when the Cobalt SS comes out
- Quality is dependent on when the Cobalt SS comes out

Don't write the vehicle off before the thing has even gotten here. :?

It's actually a lot different. It's turbocharged. Not supercharged. 0-60 in 5.7 stock. 13's in the quarter stock. It's got a turbo 2.4 liter DOHC motor in it that pounds 230hp and 245trq stock. The suspension is completely revised in this car also. Viper seats. 17" wheels. If your looking for speed, this car is a big contender. Two or three grand in mods and your running twelves. Thats fast enough to whoop on Vettes.

Scion Tc has a more expensive look then all of the other cars at question, the other cars are more rice like, The Tc should be considered in a class of it's own.

More so than a Mazda 3s? I'd say not. They're pretty even although I'd give the nod to the Mazda 3s in the interior. It looks classier vs's the tC's "art deco" look. I've been in both and they are comparable quality, wise, but the 3s just looks more professional in appearance. A lot of features for $$$ doesn't make a car in a "class of its own." If that were the case, we'd all be driving Hyundai's. I'm still putting a deposit down on a tC, but not b/c it's "expensive looking"

why do people keep dissing hyundais? the Tiburon GT 2.7L V6 5-Speed will kick the tC ___ in performance. And the build quaility and handling isn't half bad. hyundais aren't necessarilly any cheaper then any other cars. They just have a bad rep because of thier pre 2001 models.

...and their poor resale value

A Tiburon V6 does 0-60 in 7.6-7.9 seconds according to magazine reports. C&D clocked the tC at 7.4.

Considering that the Tiburon V6 is 3,023 lbs and the tC is only down slightly in power and b/c of its gearing, I'd say those numbers are pretty accurate.

yea if you say so. and hyundais have a low resale value mainly cos of thier rep. Only people that don't know a thing about cars will put down a manufacturer because of what they have heard. the tibs curb weight is 2997 fyi. the manual tCs is 2905.

- Resale value is a quantifiable thing. It's indisputable.
- 2,997 is for a base inline-4 Tibby automatic. 2,940 for a base inline-4 stick
- Tiburon V6 GT 6-speed 3,023 (Edmunds) / 3,015 lbs (MSN, Hyundai):

maybe some people buy cars to keep. there are alot of factors that contribute to a cars resale value. well I'm not gonna try and convince you otherwise. the new tibs suffer from hyundais old marginal reputation. My point is hyundai is realling starting to pull it's weigh just my 2pence though.
