what do to with car while deployed?
a coworker was telling me i can keep my car in his garage if i go to iraq. i was wondering what should be done to prevent issues when i get back. he told me to prevent suspension issues put the car on cinder blocks and to put in new oil before i leave and after i come back. what else can you guys tell me? i'll be gone for about 4 months.
I did the 120 day rotation and just left mine in the garage with the battery disconnected and it started up just fine. my suitemate just left last weekend and he did the same. but im sure there are things u can do.
DC the batt. and oh yeah, don't forget to take your keys with you if you leave it at your friend's garage. btw, thanks for protecting our freedom and stay safe in Iraq.

i WISH i was going to al dhafra, i was actually born in the UAE. It would be a pleasure to go back. but iraq i dont really wanna go, im just gonna volunteer because i need the extra cash
Put the car on stands, disconnect, top off all fluids, fill it up with a full tank of gas and put some fuel stabliser, you can find some at a local auto shop. This is what we do when we store motorcycles over the winter.
The tC must be popular with us military folk. I've been to Al Dhafra, six month tour during Iraqi Freedom, nice place. Go with putting your car up on blocks an top off the fluids, disconnect the batteries. You may also want to do the following, put a light coat of oil on your window and door seals, 10w would work well and also moth ***** will help keep lots of bugs from making your engine compartment a cozy home.
On another note any of you military stationed at Mountain Home?

Good luck over there. I don't agree with the war but I definitely support our troops. So good luck, be safe, don't take any shizzle for rizzle and get back soon!!!

Definitely top off all of the fluids, and make sure there is minimal air in the gas tank. Put the car up on jack stands, disconnect the battery, and pretty much do what Lash stated.
I just returned from deployment on the boat, my old car sat for 6 months outside, covered, all I did was disconnect the battery, I didnt have any tire issues or anything, started right up, and I went and got an oil change right away, all good!
If I were to be out of the country for an extended period, I'd leave my car with my older brother and let him have it as his weekend ride. That way I'd know it's being taken care of and not hot rodded. He doesn't have a lead foot, and knows how to take care of a car.
