looks like one of those ignition "alarm" things. where its a chip that you can remove that prevents the car from starting by breaking the link to the ignition power.

looks like some aftermarket alarm piece

no its a separate piece. it may have been disabled and the dealer left it there is they wouldn't have to replace the entire dashboard.

Maybe it is a chip that they installed that if you do not make your payments they will prevent you from starting your car?

their are a lot of places here in Wilmington NC that do it. mostly its the buy here, pay here places. if your late for a payment they have a right to keep your car from starting next time its shut off. when you pay the car off in full. it's uninstalled.

why does everyone call them stealerships? where else do you buy a new or certified pre-owned car? i worked at a dealership as a tech for 3 yeas. if you want dealer factory trained work. you pay the extra few dollars. if you want general repair from a local garage that can get your car done quicker with the same quality work then that's fine too.

my car goes to a dealership, or my two hands. that's just my rant.....
