Default What is typical insurance??

If I bought a 07 Scion tC, will my insurance shoot through the roof?

Right now I have a 95 Honda Accord, I pay 99 a month, no acidents or tickets yet.

Will it go up alot since its a newer car?

it mainly depends on your coverage, you'll notice i have a $500 collision and $0 comprehensive
i used to have a 97 corolla, with similar coverage, my scion is actually a little cheaper by a few bucks

I have comprehensive and highly, highly reccomend it. It saves you so much trouble if your car gets jacked or vandalized or anything random. It's happened to me once and I was so glad I had it with 0 deductible. An extra 7 bucks a month is so worth not paying the 200 for new side windows that someone smashed in.

I am with Safeco, I pay 146 per month, for full coverage.

Deductable I believe is 0, unsure.

My insurance went DOWN when I got the tC.

160 a month to 114, and I have full coverage, vandalism and all.

Part of it is was that I went from a V6 Dodge POS to a 4 cyl tC.

Should be lower once some of my, uh, tickets come off. If you have a clean driving record, it should be about the same, if not less. Most companies classify the tC as a 'three door passenger vehicle,' not a 'coupe.'

TongMan, don't feel bad. I'm getting raped too. Roughly $225 for 24/M with no tickets/accidents. I've got full coverage with 100/300 on everything. I bet the ppl with the low rates probably have minimal coverage and most likely don't live in a bad neighborhood. At least my rates go down in 4 months!

Rates vary so much from state to state, zip code to zip code, and person to person. Only way to even compare is if you ask you next door neighbor who is the same age as you....then that might be a fair comparison. I moved from the burbs to mid-town KC (20 miles) and my insurance jumped 70%. Two years later I moved back to the burbs and it dropped back down. Crazy how much a different zip code can make a difference.

And for those expecting a huge rate drop when they hit 25? Don't hold your breath. Unless you are married with kids, it probably won't change that drastically. I think mine dropped $10/month at 25 and maybe another $10/month when I hit 30.
