Default What voids the warranty

Does anyone know what will void your warranty on the tC if you start to mod stuff?

Multiple threads on this already. Please use the search engine.

Some search terms you might consider using;

warranty
Magnussen-Moss Act
Lemon Laws

In theory - you can do mods as much as you like provided you can prove the mod was done correctly. If something breaks, the dealer / company has to prove that the mod you did was what caused the thing to break. Burden of proof is on the car company

In practice - you can only do the mods approved by the car company and installed by a dealer at the dealership where you are trying to get your broken stuff fixed. If something breaks, you have to PROVE it was installed correctly AND that it did NOT cause the breakage. Burden of proof is on you, the consumer.

Turbos void the warrenty on EVERYTHING AND I MEAN EVERYTHING.

If you install a S/C by yourself you voind the drive train warrenty.

If you bore your engine cylinders that voids the warrenty

If you put NOS or Methaline in your car that voids the warrenty.

If you replace your pistions or engine head that voids the warrenty.

Basically any hard engine mods or forced induction (accept forced induction I.E super charger, installed by and only by Toyota mechanics in a Toyota Scion dealer.

Also say you install headers, and the headers ruin your o2 sensor. They wont replace the o2 sensor because the fault is caused by the headers which was originally caused by you. So if you install any light - medium engine mods and it ruins something that is covered by warranty, it wont be replaced unless you remove the after market part and switch it back with stock.

Like before if you had a CAI and you sucked up water they would give you a new engine. Not any more unless it came with the car from the dealer.

As short as possible, if what you did caused the problem, its not covered.
