Default What were the interior designers thinking when it came to...

the storage covers in the back. I know of mine and several other TC's on cardomain.com and other sites that show the view of their opened trunk with the storage shield thing. My question is why the right side (the bigger of the two) pulls flush with the back right rear seat, while the left side (the smaller of the two) has some slack. Is this an error of 1 inch extra material? Or is there a reason it slopes down and makes it look like the back storage cover is not even?

I thought it was only in my car. It is very annoying. I am afraid I will tear it when I pull on it.

Maybe a thin cardboard on the bottom will solve this on both the sides. I will try it sometime and let you guys know.

TOTALLY! It's called the tonneau cover, if you're trying to reference it to someone else. This is a standard piece of equipment in most cars these days and there are a few different designs. I honestly don't think there is any problem with the design - it's cheap, but it does the job. Like you guys, my only problem is the slack on the left side. It really looks pretty terrible. Anyone have any ideas what might be done? Could it easily be modified?

i'm not worried about the slack, how it looks. i'm more worried that it allows losers to look into my trunk and see my amps and crossover. i'm going to solve that by attaching some black stretchy fabric underneith were the split is.

Eh... I suppose it leaves a little extra view of the trunk area, but someone has to be staring pretty damn hard to see much. You could always just tint the back window - unless the amps have flashing lights on them even when the car is turned off, nobody is going to be able to see anything.

Yeah, i noticed that extra slack to. I thought it was just normal and thought nothing more. I hardly use my trunk anyways so i dont see it enough to bother me.

I don't know why I still keep mine installed.

Oh yeah, when I do laundry I take the clothes I just hung up and lay them flat across it. Now I remember. But it does suck.

I'm such a dork, I had my car for a little over 2 weeks and then discovered that I have a trunk light.

Then a few weeks after that I discovered that I have a 12V plug in my center console.

I'm embarassed. I would have never found the 12V outlet had I not read the little tC book showing the features. I was cleaning and found it and decided to read it.

It's not because the seats recline - both sides recline and that adds MORE slack. If the left side somehow had a more upright or forward leaning position, that would make sense but it doesn't the way things are set up. I suppose this could just be a design defect but since it seems to be pretty standard throughout, maybe there is a reason - if there is, I'd sure like to know what it is.

Just recline each seat to the first available recline position (maybe 1" back) - it'll even the slack out.

2. they are talking about the cover that attaches to the back seat headrests and the plastic holders to keep others from looking into your trunk area. (i dont seem to have that problem btw)

3. me too!

Well if someone else doesn't have the problem with the tonneau cover (it does have a name), then it probably means it's just a defect, not something that has a purpose but we don't understand. Oh well.

With the Seats at normal position and the hatch closed, it's almost impossible to see in the trunk through the glass. Especially with tinted windows.
