What was your 2nd choice to tC when purchasing?
2nd choice Hyundai Tiburon GT
3rd Choice Lancer Ralliart Edition 2005
etc...
etc...
etc...
I went to see a lot of cars, took me 2 months to decide what car I wanted
Performance per dollar, and quality..so I went with the tC

IS300 was what i wanted but when it came down to it, insurance was SO HIGH for the IS300 that in the long run i would be paying more for a used IS300 than a new tC. Also looked at a used 2002 RSX type S but the dealer would not go under 17.5 for it and it was a no brainer chosing a used car for 17.5 or a new tC for a little more than that
1. Acura TL (dealer was an ___, $650 mo. w/ no money down.)
2. Honda Accord Coupe 2 Dr.
3. Used G35 Coupe
4. tC
Ultimately, the tC was one of my parents favorites (I pay for my car, I just needed a co-signer). My dad didn't like the "big image" that an Acura or Infiniti had. Said I didn't need something that high end.
Got rid of my '03 Srt-4. I couldn't keep that car, I would've dumped too much money into it. And I commute 120 miles a day, 5spd was too much.

I actually bought my first choice first.... I owned a 2006 Honda civic EX. It was a really nice car, drove great, good commuter car. But i had a bunch of problems with it. Ended up in the shop for almost two weeks when it all added up. When it was finally fixed the last time Honda wrote me a check for my time lost....4 car payments!! That plus what they offered me at the Scion dealer for the trade was more than i owed for the car so i traded it in and had some cash to play with for add ons. So much happier now!!

I had been in a wreck in my old car, 2001 Civic LX, in November 2004 when a truck ran a stop sign and hit the front passenger side of my car. After about a month, I got my car back but the suspension on it never felt the same after that. After three months of hearing my car's suspension make weird noises a few times a day, I had had enough.
Being a nerd, I did all my searching online. I compared most of the reasonable cars that others have listed in the 15000- 24000 range, well the imports at least. While comparing them, I remembered that my best friend's girlfriend had a tC and that I had always liked how it looked and rode. None of the other choices stood out except for the tC, especially after I found out the price was so low compared to the overall value and power.
Once I had all the info on the tC, there was no 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc choices. It was just the tC and a matter of time. I actually waited a few days to think it over and went on scion.com to talk myself out of it. Instead of talking me out of it, the website did just what they designed it to do. It hooked me into the hype and culture of being a tC owner, in going against the grain but doing it in style rather than by being loud and gawdy.
I loved the pure pricing system, and the low pressure attitude of the sales staff at the local dealer. They didn't have to pressure me. They had confidence in their product and knew it would sell itself and they just had to fill in the paperwork and give a handshake. I went in late one night and looked at it, came back the next day and test drove it with a friend and put down my deposit/downpayment. After a few weeks of waiting and realizing that no more IIP's would be coming, I took the rs1 they had on the lot.
