I was reading around and I ran across some interesting stuff. When do you fill your gas tank? What's the most you've put in it?

I'm still on my 1st tank that came out of my pockets (the other came from the dealer)...I filled it when the light lit up and I was able to put in 12.003 gallons...

I was reading that it's bad for the light to come up? Is this true?

 

its not bad if the light comes on.. its only a warning telling you that u are almost empty and u got a ways to go before filling up.. im not sure how much gas is left in the tank when the light comes on.. maybe about 3 gals or 3 miles.. not sure..

anyways.. i try to fill up when my gas light comes on.. usualy put about 12 gallons in it.. living in florida so its about $34-36 every fill up @ $2.87-$2.90 a gallon

 

I've actually made a pretty nice Worksheet in Excel to track your gas and how efficient it's running, how much you're paying, etc. I think I put in all the formulas so the info you have to enter is very limited, and it will give you the results.

If anyone is interested let me know, I'll shoot you an email of the file so you can keep track if you'd like.

 

Its not bad when the light comes on, just dont try to run with it on for long. Fill up ASAP if you can? I get about 12.2 when it clicks for me to stop. Dont we have a 14gal tank?

 

i fill up when i get to a quarter tank.

 

We have a 14.5 tank according to autos.msn.com and scion.com

 

how many miles do you guys get to the tank? i filled up two days ago after doing about 318 on the last full tank

 

I fill up at 1/4 tank mark.

Usually get around 290-320ish miles at that point.

 

do u do mostly highway? at a 1/4 tank thats alot compared to mine..i think

 

About 80% highway will get me 300ish at 1/4 tank.
More city will drop that number.

 

I try to fill up my tank when i get to half a tank. if not then right at the quarter tank mark..

 

i always fill up after the light comes on i never have money and try to avoid paying for expensive gas as much as possible, but i love driving my car

 

i get about 260-280 on 12 gallon and then most i have put in the tank was 13.2 gallons lol and that time i got like 320 miles out of that tank my mgp suck a$$ i dont know why

 

I fillup with between 1/2 and 3/4 used.
Only once let it go to the light.
Better for the car to keep it full(er) as an empty tank holds more condensation inside (which is water)
Plus, you never have to worry about running out and psychologically, it seems to be less painful, money-wise.

 

1/4 always, just stuck in my head.

I just think of 1/4 as empty

 

1/4 tank most the time...except when I am hurting for funds then i almost run it to the bone

Whenever I need to buy a new carton of smokes lol. So that's usually right when the light comes on. It's kind of weird how it works out everytime.

 

I fill it up when it hits R.

I just filled it up yesterday (Sunday, 4.22) after going 350.4 miles on a full tank. I filled up 12.7 or so galloons (which means I still could've gone atleast another 20 miles before filling up).

The light is just a friendly reminder that you are getting close to the R. For me, it usually comes on halfway between the 1/4 mark and the R.

It all basically evens out whether you fill up more often at 1/4 a tank or if you fill up less often when it reaches the R.

Fill up at 1/4 = less money per fill up, more fill ups per month
Fill up at R = more money per fill up, less fill ups per month

 

i fill it up as soon as i'm done pushing it to the nearest gas station when it has stalled out from fuel starvation. i can't think of a better time to do it than that.
