yeah, seriously, the oem tires are overpriced and underperforming. it would be a better investment to just replace all 4 of them.

kumho ecsta asx. all season tire, only $81 each at tire rack, and they have a long treadlife.

lots of people have good things to say about toyo proxes 4, with the exception that some of them wear out pretty fast.

215/45ZR17 is what you need for stock rims. 225/45 is too wide for our stock rims that are 17X7.

Oh and from the looks of the pic, this is NOT a low-profile tire correct ?

Doesnt matter to me. I would kinda perfer it anyway with all the city driving i do. If you saw my other tire thread two of my tires are already damaged.

no the first number(215) is the width, 2nd is how fat or thin your tire is(45) and of course the 3rd is the size of the rim. our stock tires are 215/45/17 so just go for the same size as your stock and any tire can be low-profile just depends on the middle number of the tire. yeah you can do 215/35/17 if you want but eh not for stock rims IMO.

I think i confused myself.. Our stock tires , are they considered low-profile tires ?

EDIT

I guess they arent considered low-pros. I was just trying to avoid (if i can) this happening again

Tire shopping. Serious business.

"Low profile" is just a figure of speech. You look at the wheel, and if the tire is pretty then then you have "low profile" tires. The generally accepted idea is that "low profile" tires are any tires with an aspect ratio of less than 50% of the width of the tire. The aspect ratio is the middle number. That means that the stock tires are low profile by the generally accepted definition of what it means to be low profile.

215/45ZR17 Kumho Ecsta ASX
Blackwall In Stock 4 $90.00 $360.00

The price is reasonable. The OEM tire was 207.00 for just one tire ! I am going to buy these tonight. I want to thank you guys for all the much need info.

interesting! Didnt know there was a way to determine that. I always considered the tC wheel and tire as low profile.

So if you were to buy any 17" rim would the stock tires fit on it?

OEM tires are overpriced like someone else said.

Lexus IS 300 had them as well.

The funny thing is I beat an IS300 by about 1/2 a car's length 2 weeks ago. Perhaps if I had better tires I might have been able to widen that gap.
